Own the architecture, product direction, and hands-on development of Phoenix’s payments infrastructure across processors, gateways, vaults, tokenization, wallets, routing, authorization, disputes, fraud, reconciliation, and reliability. Lead merchant and processor integrations, improve approval rates, manage payment-method portability, maintain PCI-compliant systems, and own incident response. The role combines principal engineering with payments product ownership, requiring direct customer engagement, roadmap decisions, technical design, coding, and accountability for business outcomes.

Leads and scales Phoenix’s client services organization across customer success, support, onboarding, technical escalations, and account management. Owns retention, merchant health, service standards, operational metrics, dashboards, and process improvements. Partners with Product, Engineering, CRM, Payments, Checkout, and Growth teams to resolve issues, improve launches, increase platform adoption, and drive merchant outcomes. Builds scalable systems, manages high-performing teams, and develops automation and self-service capabilities.

Underwrite high-risk ecommerce merchants and ISVs for payment processing and acquiring approval. Evaluate financial statements, transaction flows, fraud, chargebacks, compliance, and operational stability; recommend reserves, limits, monitoring, and other risk controls. Prepare audit-ready assessments, manage merchant and banking partner relationships, support onboarding, and advise on payment performance and growth while balancing commercial objectives with responsible risk management.

Own Phoenix’s company-wide revenue strategy and commercial engine across Marketing, Sales, Partnerships, and Revenue Operations. Build a scalable go-to-market organization, drive predictable revenue growth, expand into new merchant segments, establish forecasting and operating cadence, develop strategic partnerships, and align Product, Engineering, AI, Payments, Finance, and Customer Success around growth. Partner with the executive team to scale the company from Series A toward category leadership.

Own Phoenix’s accounting function, including monthly close, financial reporting, technical accounting, ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidation, tax compliance, audit readiness, internal controls, and accounting systems. The Controller will personally execute the close, build scalable processes, manage settlement and payments accounting, support budgeting and diligence, and eventually hire and lead the accounting team.

The Chief Technology Officer will own Phoenix’s technology and engineering organization, including technical strategy, architecture, AI roadmap, platform scalability, payments infrastructure, reliability, hiring, and engineering culture. The role leads development of AI agents for commerce, partners with product and business leaders, represents the technical vision to investors and partners, and helps guide company-wide strategy, budgeting, and organizational design.
