Own brand positioning, narratives, donor and internal communications, website strategy, major partnership campaigns, and emerging-issue responses. Advise senior leaders, lead cross-functional initiatives, and build a growing communications team and its systems while maintaining rigorous, factual, precise communication standards.

Leads GiveWell’s media and public affairs function, setting communications strategy, building journalist and stakeholder relationships, developing thought-leadership opportunities, managing rapid-response communications, advising executives, serving as a spokesperson, and preparing leaders for public appearances. The role also builds systems, hires and develops a growing team, oversees sensitive external communications, and ensures GiveWell’s research and mission are represented accurately and effectively.

Leads GiveWell’s editorial quality and communications production function. Responsibilities include setting editorial standards, building workflows and production systems, managing content portfolios, overseeing website, design, visual, and multimedia production, personally shaping complex content, and hiring and developing a growing team. The role requires precise communication of complex research, strong operational leadership, executive advising, and end-to-end ownership of high-stakes communications.

Lead GiveWell’s legal function as its primary legal decision-maker, developing legal strategy, overseeing nonprofit compliance, managing contracting, and advising executives and the Board. Build and lead a scalable legal team and modernize legal administration through technology and automation. Provide strategic leadership for Grants Administration, guide complex grant structures, and partner cross-functionally on employment, privacy, security, intellectual property, governance, international expansion, and operational risks.

Lead and improve GiveWell's cause prioritization process, build and manage a sub-team within New Areas, oversee early-stage grant investigations and portfolios, perform evidence review and cost-effectiveness modelling, communicate externally to source ideas, and directly investigate complex grantmaking opportunities to inform large funding decisions.

Lead full-lifecycle recruiting for senior research roles: source hard-to-find candidates, run screenings and work trials, analyze hiring data and channels, build pipelines and experiments, partner closely with research leadership, manage Greenhouse and candidate coordination, and close offers while improving assessment processes and hiring metrics.

Manage execution of research and grantmaking workflows: keep trackers current, manage timelines and risks, coordinate internal and external stakeholders, produce accurate documentation, improve processes and templates, and proactively solve operational bottlenecks to support GiveWell researchers and grantees.

Lead GiveWell grantmaking for a major portfolio: set strategy, evaluate cost-effectiveness and evidence, manage grantee relationships, make funding decisions, communicate externally, and mentor colleagues.
