Responsibilities include drainage design, erosion and sediment control, permitting, technical analyses, plans, specifications, cost estimates, quality control, field reviews, and coordination with consultants and internal teams. Participate in McAdams’ multidisciplinary internship program, supporting active projects across civil engineering, land planning, transportation, landscape architecture, geomatics, environmental services, and construction administration. Interns collaborate with experienced professionals, contribute to project deliverables, engage in creative problem-solving, learn industry workflows, and receive mentorship throughout the project lifecycle. The role is primarily office-based and may occasionally require evening, weekend, overtime work, travel, and physical tasks.

Lead and coordinate site design tasks from permitting through construction, producing detailed site, utility, grading, and drainage plans. Maintain CAD/Civil 3D standards, prepare construction drawing packages, perform 3D surface and earthwork analysis, coordinate with agencies and project teams, and mentor junior staff to meet schedules and regulatory requirements.

Lead civil engineering projects from design through construction, manage project teams and budgets, ensure permitting and regulatory compliance, mentor staff, maintain client relationships, and support business development.

Lead preliminary civil site designs and site analyses for roadways, utilities, storm drainage, grading, and erosion control. Produce plans, calculations, regulatory submittals, and reports using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Hydraflow while coordinating with interdisciplinary teams and managing project schedules to ensure regulatory compliance and project delivery.

Lead and grow an NCDOT-focused roadway and hydraulic design practice: manage and mentor design staff, secure and deliver work under NCDOT contracts, develop NCDOT-aligned processes, coordinate with internal teams and subconsultants, and ensure quality and compliance with standards.
