Drive discovery, experimentation, funnel analysis, and measurable improvements in activation, conversion, repeat engagement, comprehension, and responsible access to credit.

Lead backend engineering strategy for Affirm’s search and recommendation platform. Design and launch highly available distributed systems, guide technical architecture and execution, improve team operations and reliability, establish engineering quality standards, collaborate with product, design, and analytics, and mentor engineers. The role focuses on search, recommendations, consumer shopping experiences, monetization, and scalable platform foundations.

Develop and scale backend streaming and data infrastructure using Kafka, Flink, AWS, Kubernetes, and related technologies. Break down projects, deliver tested software, collaborate with product and engineering teams, monitor system availability, participate in on-call support, debug code, conduct code reviews, and contribute to team development.

Own compliance advisory for the Affirm Card program across marketing, onboarding, payments, disputes, servicing, and new product features. Apply consumer finance regulations, review disclosures and UX, lead root-cause analysis and remediation, maintain risk assessments and controls, support regulatory exams and audits, and develop compliance training. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Risk, and senior leadership to make independent, risk-based decisions.

Administer the compliance testing program by conducting regulatory reviews, reporting findings, identifying control gaps, and coordinating remediation. Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Risk, Product, Engineering, Operations, and management. Support compliance risk assessments, control inventory, process improvements, and regulatory analysis for new or revised products and services.

Architect, build, and operate large-scale relational and distributed SQL database infrastructure. Responsibilities include database control-plane automation, provisioning, failover, backups, upgrades, zero-downtime migrations, Kubernetes networking, connection proxy optimization, reliability monitoring, capacity planning, and operational support. The role also leads technical delivery, mentors engineers, establishes quality standards, collaborates cross-functionally, and contributes to team roadmap and on-call operations.

Own Affirm’s B2B product marketing strategy and operating systems, including merchant narratives, segmentation, go-to-market planning, measurement, revenue enablement, and merchant feedback programs. Lead ambiguous cross-portfolio initiatives from discovery through commercialization, influence product and investment priorities, align Product, Revenue, Partnerships, Analytics, and Marketing, and coach teams toward stronger collaboration and execution.

Owns fraud performance analytics for depository products, including monitoring losses, approval rates, false positives, customer friction, and risk metrics. Builds data models, transformation pipelines, dashboards, scorecards, and monitoring frameworks. Conducts fraud deep dives and develops optimized rules, policies, thresholds, models, and decision strategies. Partners with Product, Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Fraud Operations, and Risk teams to improve fraud detection and support product launches.
