Job Description

The Senior UX/UI Designer is the team's strongest executor and a rising strategic voice — someone who takes the Manager's direction and vision and turns it into exceptional, well-reasoned design outcomes. While the Manager owns strategy and prioritization, the Senior Designer owns the craft: leading complex projects with confidence, raising the quality bar for the whole team, and proactively identifying opportunities to improve the digital experience. This role applies AI-assisted methods to complex product-design challenges and helps explore AI-enabled experiences through rapid, testable prototypes. At a growing company like Brightspeed, this person is a force multiplier — someone who elevates every designer around them simply by how they work.

IMPACT

Execution & Craft

  • Own complex UX/UI design projects end-to-end, from discovery and wireframing through high-fidelity delivery and developer handoff, across the website, eCommerce experience, and customer account platform.

  • Set the quality standard for the team's output, demonstrating what excellent design looks like at every level of fidelity.

  • Make well-reasoned trade-offs between speed, quality, and scope, and communicate those decisions clearly to the Manager and stakeholders.

  • Produce meticulous, well-organized Figma files that are easy for the team to build on and maintain.

Strategic Contribution

  • Translate the Manager's strategic direction into concrete design approaches, proactively filling in the gaps between high-level goals and execution details.

  • Identify appropriate opportunities for AI-enabled experiences and use AI-assisted or agent-building tools to create and evaluate prototypes in partnership with product, content, and engineering.

  • Bring forward well-developed, data-informed design recommendations, not just solutions, but the reasoning behind them.

  • Partner with analysts, product owners, and strategists to interpret data, identify experience gaps, and propose design-led improvements.

  • Stay ahead of industry trends in UX, UI, and eCommerce design, and introduce relevant ideas to the team.

Team Elevation

  • Actively raise the craft of the team through thoughtful critique, generous knowledge-sharing, and modeling strong design thinking.

  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to junior designers, helping them grow without undermining their ownership.

  • Contribute to a team culture where curiosity, quality, and collaboration are the norm.

Research & Validation

  • Plan and facilitate usability testing, design reviews, and research sessions, synthesizing findings into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Champion user-centered decision-making across the team and with cross-functional partners.

May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

YOU WILL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE IF YOU

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in design, UX, HCI, or a related field.

  • Bring 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, with a portfolio that demonstrates both strategic thinking and exceptional craft across complex digital products.

  • Have demonstrated experience using AI in a professional product-design process and can discuss at least one substantial example involving design exploration, prototyping, workflow improvement, or an AI-enabled experience.

  • Are an expert Figma user, comfortable working within and contributing to established design systems.

  • Excel at independent execution — you can take a brief, ask the right questions, and deliver without needing constant direction.

  • Think critically about problems before jumping to solutions and can articulate your design rationale clearly and confidently.

  • Are genuinely invested in the growth of the people around you and bring a collaborative, low-ego energy to the team.

A PLUS IF YOU HAVE

  • Experience in eCommerce, telecommunications, or other high-volume digital consumer products.

  • Familiarity with front-end development workflows and developer handoff best practices.

  • Hands-on experience with user research platforms (e.g., UserTesting, Maze, or Lookback).

  • Background in conversion rate optimization or data-driven design experimentation.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

English required. Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily sedentary, performed indoors from a home or company office while operating a computer and standard office productivity tools. Occasional additional hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
