Job Description:

We are seeking a Trading Systems Lead to conduct complex analysis, testing, operational readiness, and continuous improvement across AssetMark’s trading technology ecosystem. This role connects Trading Operations, platform and trading system configuration, and technology delivery to ensure that changes produce reliable, scalable, and well-controlled outcomes across the investment lifecycle.

The Trading Systems Lead is an individual contributor who takes ownership of complex issues and cross-functional workstreams, translates trading needs into practical system and workflow solutions, and helps establish repeatable standards for monitoring, testing, documentation, and production support.

The role works closely with Trade Operations Leaders and serves as a senior partner to Product Engineering, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and external vendors. This position is designed for an experienced analyst who can independently lead complex work and influence outcomes across teams.

We can consider candidates for this position who are able to accommodate a hybrid work schedule and are close to our office location in Charlotte, NC, or Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities:

·         Lead end-to-end analysis of complex trading system, workflow, data, connectivity, and control issues across order creation, execution, allocations, trade posting, and post-trade processes.

·         Serve as the senior escalation point for recurring exceptions, systemic defects, latency, failed integrations, and breaks that require structured investigation and cross-functional coordination.

·         Own root-cause analysis and corrective action tracking for complex incidents and control breaks; clearly communicate business impact, risk, recommended remediation, and status to stakeholders.

·         Design, enhance, and interpret monitoring frameworks, dashboards and alerts for cycle time, touchless processing, and operational performance.

·         Lead business analysis and operational readiness activities for system, rule, configuration, integration, and workflow changes; identify downstream impacts, dependencies, and required controls.

·         Plan and lead UAT, regression testing, scenario validation, production readiness reviews, and post-implementation validation for trading system enhancements.

·         Translate trading and operational needs into clear functional requirements, workflow designs, test plans, and decision-ready recommendations; validate that delivered capabilities meet business expectations.

·         Maintain configuration, workflow, control, and process documentation that is consistent, explainable, auditable, and usable by production teams.

·         Identify opportunities to reduce manual touchpoints and improve accuracy, timeliness, resiliency, and touchless trade processing through automation, standardization, and workflow redesign.

·         Evaluate proposed changes for operational risk, data quality impacts, control effectiveness, and production support implications; recommend safeguards and implementation sequencing.

·         Coordinate with Product Engineering, Trade Operations Leaders, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and vendors to resolve issues, prioritize improvements, and support delivery milestones.

·         Support vendor management by documenting defects, coordinating troubleshooting, and escalating unresolved issues with clear evidence.

·         Represent Trade Operations on assigned enterprise initiatives and serve as a trusted subject matter expert for complex trading workflows, system dependencies, and operational impacts.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·         Demonstrated experience analyzing and improving workflows, system behavior, configurations, controls, or operating processes within a complex trading environment.

·         Strong understanding of order management systems, execution management systems, portfolio management or accounting platforms, integrations, and the full trading lifecycle.

·         Ability to independently lead complex investigations and cross-functional delivery workstreams from problem definition through remediation and validation.

·         Strong systems thinking and analytical judgment, including the ability to understand data flows, dependencies, rule logic, configuration impacts, and downstream operational effects.

·         Experience leading UAT, regression testing, production readiness, release validation, and post-implementation stabilization for technology or workflow changes.

·         Ability to translate business and trading concepts into requirements, workflow designs, acceptance criteria, test plans, documentation, and clear recommendations.

·         Experience designing or improving monitoring, controls, quality assurance, dashboards, or operational performance reporting.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues and business impacts to executive, operational, and technical audiences.

·         Proven ability to influence without direct authority, build trusted partnerships, manage competing priorities, and maintain accountability through resolution.

·         Demonstrated commitment to sound risk judgment, operational discipline, documentation quality, and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience:

·         Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.

·         5+ years of experience in investment management, wealth management, capital markets, trading operations, trading systems, or investment technology, including experience leading complex analysis, testing, issue resolution, or implementation workstreams.

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience with portfolio accounting, order management, rebalancing, or execution platforms such as InvestCloud APL, Vestmark, Aladdin, or similar systems.

·         Experience with trading across equities, ETFs, mutual funds, fixed income, options, and other security types.

·         Experience with issue tracking, documentation, and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.

·         Experience building dashboards and recurring reporting using Power BI, Tableau, Excel, SQL, or similar tools.

·         Experience supporting vendor relationships, production incidents, and operational risk remediation.
