The Technology Director, Enterprise Data Platforms is a senior leadership role, responsible for driving the modernization, scalability, and governance of the bank's enterprise data platforms. This role sits within the CDO Technology function and plays a critical part in enabling data consumption at enterprise scale, supporting over 100,000 users across ten CIO organizations through APIs, analytics platforms, and system-to-system integrations.
The Technology Director provides strategic and technical leadership during a multi-year data platform modernization program, transitioning the organization away from legacy platforms toward modern public and private cloud-based data ecosystems. Success in this role requires strong influence across senior technology leaders, proven experience operating in highly regulated environments, and the ability to steer large, complex organizations through change.

In this role, you will:
- Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
- Drive migration off legacy data platforms while ensuring remaining environments are fully automated using infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform), automated ETL, and automated testing.
- Enable scalable, secure, and reliable data consumption for end users and system-to-system integrations, supporting enterprise analytics, APIs, and downstream consumption use cases.
- Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
- Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
- Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
- Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
- Partner and work closely with senior leadership (CDO, CIO reps, CEO reps) to solve difficult challenges in the data space
- Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers
- Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
- Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
- Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
- Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
- Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers
- Lead team to achieve objectives
- Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
- Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
- Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
- 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 4+ years of management or leadership experience
- 8+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data platforms, data engineering, or large-scale data architecture roles
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale data consumption (analytics, reporting, APIs, and data services) for tens of thousands of users
- Familiarity with GCP-based data platforms and cloud-native data tooling
- Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and automated testing within data platforms
- Exposure to AI-enabled data consumption, such as natural language querying, analytics copilots, or AI-driven data discovery and insights
- Background in developing multi-year technology roadmaps and contributing to executive-level business cases
- Deep understanding of data governance, audit, regulatory, and risk management requirements, preferably in financial services or similarly regulated industries
- Exceptional stakeholder management and executive influence skills, with a track record of aligning multiple CIO organizations around shared platform strategies
