Summary:
The principal purpose of the Strategic Sourcing Manager is to oversee all strategic sourcing as well as supplier management performance and relationship management activities for the specific categories of spending in their purview. This role is the go-to resource in Procurement for their respective spend categories and should be seen as such by Finance as well as the business units.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for managing and delivering results that support the Procurement-related goals and objectives for respective categories and business units. This role will act as the single point of contact for the entire organization with regard to strategic procurement activities for their categories. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be accountable for creating, facilitating, or participating in the development of category management strategies, executing upon the category strategies and monitoring, and evaluating the success of the activities. The Strategic Sourcing Manager is also responsible for managing supplier relationships, performance and improvement, risks, and issues.
To accomplish category strategies that involve sourcing, the Strategic Sourcing Manager must effectively facilitate the sourcing process with the business unit teams. The Strategic Sourcing Manager must possess excellent project management skills, people leadership skills and an understanding of the business and their category specific knowledge to provide value to their respective business units. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will take input from business unit stakeholders to formulate and execute category objectives, priorities, plans of action.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for the following:
Category and Supplier Management
Defines category and demand profile for respective categories with an emphasis on SaaS.
Proactively manages categories by tracking spend by vendor; and developing preferred supplier analysis, with a goal of optimizing the number of suppliers while maximizing year over year savings.
Develops category strategy and plans that encompass creative and well thought out insights and solutions
Refines and refreshes category management strategies and plans based on monitoring progress toward results
Manages supplier relationships, risks, performance
Stakeholder and Requirements Management
Serves as the interface between the functional team members to ensure effective definition of and delivery of category management activities
Builds strong working relationships with business unit stakeholders in order to ensure requirements and considerations are being incorporated into category management and sourcing plans
Works with the business units to prepare project plans for proposed Procurement activities and makes sure all stakeholders understand timelines and assignments
Manages communications with business unit stakeholders, including regular project updates and executive updates as needed
Develops and maintains strong relationships with business units and penetrating the organization by continually demonstrating value and breaking down resistance in order to effectively manage spend
Collaborates with business unit stakeholder to establish strong working relationships
Engages Business Unit stakeholders to develop relationship equity
Drives for results by consistently achieving goals and pushing to complete tasks by their deadlines
Self-Leadership
Negotiates effectively for the organization with internal and external stakeholders and builds relationships with key individuals necessary for collaboration
Develops and presents communications, frequently to senior leadership, communicating the desired message, at the appropriate level, for the right recipient
Does what it takes to understand the stakeholders’ business and builds and maintains category knowledge and expertise
Provides functional guidance and management oversight related to project resources and business unit subject matter experts (SME) for assigned activities
Allocates and manages resources that are not direct reports in order for project tasks to be completed on time and meeting or exceeding the desired quality level
What You'll Bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
Previous Experience and Skills:
Experience in supply chain including 3+ years Information Technology services/sourcing, RFx end to end with a focus on SaaS, PaaS and IaaS contracting.
Experience managing global procurement responsibilities, using a strategic sourcing methodology, including opportunity analysis and identification, supplier selection, risk and compliance evaluation, contract negotiation, and financial analysis.3
Knowledge of business law, commercial terms and conditions, and related legal issues. Negotiations and competitive process engagement recognizing TCO.
Ability to provide guidance to develop and evolve sourcing management processes, develop metrics, and engage suppliers on operational, strategic, and financial issues.
Strong negotiation skills. Fluent in relevant contract terms and current supply and market dynamics
Working knowledge of NetSuite
Proficiency with MS Office suite including advanced Excel, PowerBI, and PowerPoint.
Certifications:
Professional certification e.g., CPSM, CIPS, C.P.M., or evidence of continued professional growth
