 Software Test Analyst

Job Description

Focus: Domain Context & Requirements Analysis

Department: Technology

Location: United States – Remote

Experience Level: Mid-Level

Security Requirement:  Must be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Public Trust determination and DoD system access

About the Role

We're seeking a Software Test Analyst to validate the quality of changes, customizations, integrations, and automated test coverage on a government client engagement. Established automation frameworks, standards, and testing guidance already exist for the underlying technical work, so this role is scoped around execution, validation, and continuous improvement of testing practices rather than independent test architecture design. You'll work closely with the technical lead, development team, and client stakeholders to ensure quality holds up as the system evolves.

This is a mid-level analyst role, not a senior/lead architecture position.

What You'll Do

  • Test changes, customizations, and integrations to confirm functional correctness and quality before release.
  • Validate the quality, coverage, and reliability of test cases generated through agentic test automation.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce automation framework standards and testing best practices.
  • Validate browser compatibility across all supported browsers and environments.
  • Continuously improve testing workflows in coordination with the client's ongoing process development efforts.
  • Collaborate with the development and business teams to ensure test coverage aligns with requirements and domain context.
  • Identify, document, and track defects and testing gaps, driving them to resolution with the appropriate stakeholder.
  • Maintain test documentation, test results, and defect-tracking records to support audit and traceability needs.
  • Escalate testing framework or architecture decisions that fall outside established standards to the technical lead.
  • Collaborate with technical leadership, program leadership, and stakeholders to support successful delivery of project objectives.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software testing, QA, or test automation, including experience validating integrations and system customizations.
  • Experience working with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Cypress) and the ability to work within established framework standards.
  • Experience evaluating the quality and coverage of test cases produced by agentic test automation, not just manually authored ones.
  • Experience with cross-browser/compatibility testing tools and practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery (sprint testing cadence, backlog grooming, acceptance criteria validation).
  • Experience with test management and defect-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Zephyr).
  • Ability to follow and work within established testing standards and runbooks rather than independently designing test architecture from scratch, escalating architecture-level decisions to the technical lead.
  • U.S. Person status, with the ability to complete required background/vetting paperwork (e.g., SAAR-N, DD-2875, or Public Trust processes) and any required security awareness training within the standard post-award window. This is required because the role involves direct client-facing communication, coordination involving access-controlled or production systems, and handling of Government Furnished Information (GFI).

Nice to Have (not required)

  • ISTQB certification (Foundation or Advanced Level), CSTE, or a similar test/QA certification.
  • Certification or hands-on training in a specific automation framework or tool relevant to the engagement.
  • Experience with CI/CD-integrated test execution and reporting.
  • Experience testing or validating outputs from agentic test automation, particularly in a test-generation context.
  • Prior experience on a government-client or public-sector engagement, including familiarity with SOW/CDRL-style deliverable schedules.
  • Familiarity with compliance/quality frameworks relevant to regulated or government software delivery.

Security & Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must:

  • Be based in the United States.
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Direct client-facing communication with government stakeholders.
  • Coordination involving access-controlled systems or production environment access.
  • Receipt and handling of Government Furnished Information (GFI).
  • Completion of required background/vetting paperwork and any required security awareness training within the standard post-award window.

Out of scope for this role:

  • Designing the underlying technical/system architecture.
  • Building or validating foundational automation frameworks or sandbox environments from scratch.
  • Any independent technical/engineering decision-making — these are escalated to and owned by the technical lead.

This JD reflects only the U.S.-based execution/coordination scope of the role.
