Leidos is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to design and establish secure, scalable cloud platforms for mission-critical applications operating in accredited U.S. Government environments. This is a hands-on role working across software engineering, DevSecOps, cybersecurity/RMF, data, and government platform teams to move solutions from development into secure, supportable production environments.

The ideal candidate combines deep cloud engineering expertise with experience navigating government authorization constraints. The role will establish reusable cloud architecture patterns across products and teams, including landing zones, cloud services, identity, connectivity, deployment, and environment progression—reducing duplicated effort and accelerating delivery into accredited environments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and implement secure government cloud architectures, including landing zones, networking, identity, storage, databases, application hosting, monitoring, and other required cloud services.
  • Translate application, data, integration, performance, security, and operational requirements into scalable, supportable solutions, making tradeoffs among security, reliability, performance, cost, and delivery time explicit.
  • Personally build, review, test, and troubleshoot critical cloud components, including infrastructure-as-code, cloud configurations, deployment automation, identity and access controls, networking, observability, and system integrations.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical problems across application and cloud environments, using logs, metrics, traces, targeted testing, and systematic root-cause analysis to validate solutions and reduce recurrence.
  • Design for authorization from the start, maximizing reuse of authorized services, inherited controls, and existing government platform capabilities while partnering with cybersecurity/RMF teams on boundaries, data flows, interfaces, ports/protocols, and interconnections.
  • Establish secure deployment and integration patterns with engineering and DevSecOps teams, including CI/CD, artifact promotion, configuration management, automated validation, environment progression, APIs, data movement, and multi-enclave connectivity.
  • Create reusable engineering assets, including tested infrastructure-as-code modules, reference implementations, architecture patterns, deployment templates, technical standards, runbooks, and troubleshooting guidance that can be adopted across products and teams.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through delivery and operations, mentoring engineers through implementation and troubleshooting while ensuring production readiness, observability, resiliency, recovery, rollback, supportability, and capacity/cost planning.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline with 12+ years of relevant experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Extensive hands-on Microsoft Azure architecture and engineering experience, including networking, identity and access management, PaaS services, application hosting, data services, security, monitoring, and resiliency.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering production systems in U.S. Government, DoD, or similarly regulated cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of government cloud security and authorization requirements, including zero trust, least privilege, security boundaries, inherited controls, and DoD RMF/ATO considerations.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud landing zones, infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, environment progression, and secure software deployment patterns.
  • Experience architecting complex integrations across cloud, enterprise, and restricted environments, including APIs, identity, data movement, network boundaries, and multi-enclave solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience developing reusable cloud architecture patterns and technical standards that support multiple applications, products, or engineering teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the U.S. Government security clearance and privileged environment access required for assigned work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing and operating solutions in classified government cloud environments, including SIPR or equivalent.
  • Deep experience with Azure PaaS and data services, particularly Cosmos DB, Azure Data Factory, API Management, Key Vault, Azure Monitor, Azure Policy, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Experience architecting enterprise data, knowledge graph, analytics, or AI-enabled platforms in secure cloud environments.
  • Experience establishing cloud governance and FinOps practices across multiple subscriptions, products, or programs.

Advanced Microsoft Azure architecture or security certifications.
