Your Impact
As a Principal Product Designer you will lead the overall design process for highly complex, cross-functional requirements for our mobile apps while ensuring consistency in design across the company. This includes leading the development of innovative design solutions and resolving design deficiencies across multiple projects and project teams spanning a wide range of design domains and business areas. This role drives consistency in design decisions and standards across projects while ensuring that the team delivers high-quality design maps, user journeys, wireframes, supporting visuals, prototypes, and pixel perfect design comps. In addition, this role provides consultation to help ensure product design solutions are developed with insight into industry best practices. The Principal Product Designer works with designers, engineers, and content developers to lead the delivery of design projects in a timely and efficient manner and often provides creative approval of work completed by others on the design team.

What You Will Do
  • Drives alignment to design standards and industry best practices. Oversees the architecture and design of high-quality and engaged experiences for customers and associates.
  • Leads the most complex design projects that span product groups or portfolios; owns overall design decisions across multiple highly complex projects that span design domains and have significant business implications. Reviews and signs off on high-impact, high-visibility design projects.
  • Champions product design best practices, innovations, and trends across the organization; provides input and direction that helps the organization improve its practices; sets the standard for product design excellence. Works with product design team to ensure a consistent design experience across products, product groups, and product portfolios.
  • Resolves the most complex design problems at the cross-portfolio enterprise level; works to simplify, optimize, and remove bottlenecks for the product design team.
  • Builds and sustains key cross-functional partnerships to drive project execution and efficiency and enhance overall design quality.
  • Holds expert knowledge of external processes and technologies, both standard and unique to the company, including the work processes, technologies, platforms, and services of business and technology capabilities.
  • Coaches, directs, and approves designs for other product designers; facilitates complex design decisions among other product designers; shares an in-depth understanding of company and industry methodologies, policies, standards, and controls.
  • Serves as a thought leader across all aspects of design projects, providing input and advice that helps improve and optimize the designs of others on the team.
  • Helps shape and drive the team's roadmap in close partnership with product and engineering leads.
  • Provides input into departmental budget forecasting and allocation decisions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in interaction design, graphic design, industrial design, or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • 10 years of experience in user experience design
  • Experience defining and enforcing product design standards
  • Experience building strategic cross-functional partnerships for the purpose of driving overall design capability

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Deep expertise in native mobile app design, including Apple Human Interface Guidelines and Android Material Design guidelines, patterns, and platform conventions
  • Demonstrated experience designing native iOS and Android experiences that balance platform-specific conventions with a cohesive cross-platform product and brand experience
  • Ability to create high-fidelity, functioning prototypes that demonstrate native interactions, motion, transitions, and end-to-end product experiences for concept validation, usability testing, and engineering collaboration
