SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will support a national counsel team in the management of personal injury and property damage cases relating to the minimum financial responsibility (MFR) limits mandated by applicable state law. Candidates must be adept at leveraging technology, including AI, and be willing to learn Firm-approved tools. Candidates must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail to handle a nationwide docket of cases. Candidates should have at least five years of experience with automobile insurance defense, including minimum financial responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide assistance to attorneys in all aspects of MFR claim management and litigation, including assistance with fact investigation, medical record review, docketing and case deadline management, and drafting litigation documents and client reporting.
  • Prepare materials for and assist in preparation for depositions, hearings, and trials and related proceedings, and attend same if needed.
  • Prepare draft pleadings and discovery.
  • Coordinate filing of pleadings/documents and arrange for service.
  • Collect and summarize medical and/or other records.
  • Assist with calendaring/docketing.
  • Work with attorneys in multiple offices.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and attitude.
  • Comply with firm policies.
  • Sustain attention to detail and quality of work.
  • Learn/develop technical proficiency in database use and management; internet/electronic research; and project folder/electronic file maintenance.
  • Independently organize and manage files.
  • Anticipate attorney needs.
  • Independently handle all key duties without supervision of another Paralegal or Senior Paralegal.
  • Familiarity and experience with adopting legal AI and ability to learn and implement new AI preferred.
  • Meet billable hour requirement of 1500 hours per year.
  • Perform other duties as required.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Minimum of five years of experience with automobile insurance defense, including minimum financial responsibility.
    • Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in a law related field or Associate’s degree and paralegal training.
    • Significant, substantive legal-related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education at the discretion of the Managing Directo

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

    • State of California: $86,000 - $139,000
    • State of Colorado: $75,000 - $119,000
    • State of Connecticut: $63,000 - $159,000
    • State of Illinois: $64,000 - $125,000
    • State of Maine: $54,000 - $124,000
    • State of Maryland: $73,000 - $107,000
    • State Massachusetts: $85,000 - $130,000
    • State of Minnesota: $75,000 - $111,000
    • Jersey City, NJ: $78,000 - $114,000
    • State of New York: $66,000 - $125,000
    • State of Virginia: $51,000 - $150,000
    • State of Vermont: $78,000 - $150,000
    • State of Washington: $88,000 - $134,000
    • Washington, DC: $94,000 - $138,000

    The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
