Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:

The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer (MME) is responsible for leading the manufacturing development and productization of mechanical components and assemblies for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs from concept through mass production. This role partners closely with Mechanical Design Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, and Manufacturing Operations to develop robust, cost-effective, and highly manufacturable solutions across a wide range of fabrication technologies including sheet metal, machining, die casting, plastic injection molding, and extrusion.

The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer will drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Value (DFV), and process optimization initiatives to ensure products achieve quality, reliability, cost, and schedule objectives. This position serves as the primary manufacturing engineering interface with suppliers, contract manufacturers (CMs), and original design manufacturers (ODMs) to establish scalable manufacturing processes, improve yields, resolve production issues, and support product lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical manufacturing engineering activities for NPI programs from concept development through production ramp and sustaining support.
• Partner with Mechanical Design Engineering to optimize designs for manufacturability, assembly efficiency, quality, reliability, and cost.
• Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes for sheet metal, machining, die casting, plastic injection molding, extrusion, and mechanical assemblies.
• Collaborate with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and ODM partners to establish robust, high-yield manufacturing processes utilizing mistake-proofing (Poka-Yoke) methodologies.
• Drive DFM, DFA, tolerance analysis, tooling reviews, process capability assessments, and production readiness evaluations.
• Identify and implement cost reduction and value engineering opportunities for both new and sustaining products.
• Develop tooling strategies, qualification plans, and validation activities to support successful production launches.
• Lead manufacturing issue resolution through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Support qualification and transfer of products, assemblies, and components between suppliers, fabrication sources, manufacturing sites, and contract manufacturers.
• Perform supplier capability assessments and manufacturing audits in partnership with Supplier Quality Engineering.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement in quality, delivery, cost, and process capability.
• Analyze manufacturing, quality, and field performance data to identify opportunities for yield improvement and defect reduction.
• Coordinate with R&D, Quality, Test Engineering, Reliability Engineering, and Operations teams to resolve product and process issues.
• Represent Manufacturing Engineering during design reviews, supplier reviews, and cross-functional product development meetings.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 4 to 6 years of experience in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Introduction, or Product Industrialization.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical fabrication processes including:
  • Sheet metal fabrication
  • CNC machining
  • Die casting
  • Plastic injection molding
  • Extrusion
  • Mechanical assembly processes
• Experience working directly with global suppliers, contract manufacturers, and ODM partners.
• Strong understanding of DFM, DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing process development.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and standard business applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced English Level

Travel Requirements

• Up to 20% international and domestic travel to support suppliers, manufacturing partners, audits, qualifications, and new product launches.
