Do you have experience working in regulatory compliance and want to help build compliant products at a FinTech company?

Avant is looking for a Compliance Manager to join its technology forward Compliance Department that enables Avant’s mission while also mitigating and managing risk. As a Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for supporting all products across key areas including Compliance Advisory, Issue Management, Complaint Management, Licensing, Exams, and Regulatory Change Management. You will effectively partner with various business units to ensure regulatory compliance with respect to new products, initiatives, complaints, issues, licensing, exams, and regulatory changes. You will help develop practical compliance solutions by working with the business to understand issues, develop ideas, and execute on them.

In this role, you are expected to maintain a high degree of knowledge of consumer lending rules and regulations, including, but not limited to TILA, ECOA, UDAAP, FDCPA, SCRA, MLA, GLBA, EFTA, TCPA, E-SIGN, BSA and other AML related regulations. As a Compliance Manager, you will be expected to promote a culture of corporate compliance by the use of best practices and leading by example in alignment with Avant’s internal policies.

What you’ll do at Avant:

  • Evaluate new business initiatives and participate in complex projects to identify potential compliance risk and develop mitigation strategies

  • Actively engage in our Complaint Management and Issue Management programs, including risk assessment and remediation planning

  • Respond to state regulatory exams and maintain Avant’s state licenses

  • Monitor for regulatory changes and ensure compliance

  • Build strong relationships across business units

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of products, services, processes, and strategies

  • Prepare formal reports for internal committees, management, Board of Directors, and external bank partners

  • Take on additional projects and as needed

Why you're a fit at Avant:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or comparable experience required; JD/CRCM a plus

  • 6+ years of financial services regulatory compliance experience working with credit products; fintech experience preferred

  • Strong background in federal and state consumer finance laws

  • Proven track record of creativity, resourcefulness, and a passion for problem-solving as a team player who can build relationships across functions, business lines, and levels

  • Ability to handle and execute on complex projects in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Ability to prioritize and clearly articulate trade-offs while also maintaining flexibility as the situation changes

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills 

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

  • Willingness to learn new skills and monitor aptitude development to optimize accuracy and performance

This role is based on our downtown Chicago Office, located in the Merchandise Mart. We highly value collaboration and our hybrid schedule (M, T, Th in-office) enables flexibility to balance work and individual priorities.

Compensation Range:

The base salary range for this job is USD $100,000 - USD $145,000 / Yea

Employees new to Avant typically come in below the midpoint of the pay range. The compensation range is based on the level outlined in the job posting, and compensation decisions are dependent on each applicant's experience, skills and abilities.

This role is eligible for additional incentives, including an annual bonus. These rewards are allocated based on level, impact and performance in the role.
