The Head of HR Technology Systems leads the strategy, delivery, and evolution of Vanguard’s core HR platforms and workforce technology ecosystem. This leader drives measurable improvements in efficiency, experience, and workforce productivity through modern platforms, integrated systems, automation, and responsible use of emerging technologies. They will steward a human centered, innovative approach that transforms how HR will interact with enterprise systems. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and execute the multiyear strategy and roadmap for HR & internal Systems, spanning platforms such as Workday, ServiceNow HRSD, Talent & Learning systems, and core integrations. 
  • Oversee end-to-end platform delivery, including enhancements, releases, data flows, service stability, and user experience improvements. 
  • Drive adoption and optimization of HR technologies to enable better workforce planning, talent development, service delivery, and Internal experience. 
  • Introduce modernization opportunities including intelligent automation, workflow simplification, analytics, and applied AI/ML where appropriate. 
  • Govern platform portfolio intake, prioritization, investment planning, and alignment with architecture, cyber, privacy, and HR strategy. 
  • Partner with HR, IT, data, risk, and global teams to define needs, shape solutions, and ensure platform excellence. 
  • Ensure responsible, compliant, and secure operation of all HR systems, integrations, and vendor relationships. 
  • Lead and develop a diverse team of HR technology and product professionals, fostering innovation and continuous improvement. 
  • Manage budgets, vendor decisions, and build/buy/integrate evaluations to maximize long term value. 
  • Represent HR Systems as a strategic advisor to senior leaders on platform capabilities and workforce- enabling technologies. 

Qualifications: 

  • 12+ years in HR technology, enterprise systems, or digital platforms, including 5+ years leading complex portfolios or transformations. 
  • Deep experience with enterprise HR platforms (e.g., Workday, ServiceNow), integrations, data frameworks, and SaaS ecosystems. 
  • Proven ability to set strategy, lead teams, manage platforms, and deliver measurable business and workforce impacts. 
  • Strong stakeholder partnership, communication, and vendor management skills. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MIS, HR Technology, or related field) preferred. 
  • Background in digital transformation, product management, enterprise architecture, or workflow automation a plus.
