About Us

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

The primary purpose of the position is to perform complex and advanced work in the engineering area of assignment for Correction Enterprise operations. The position will serve as the authority for all engineering projects. The position will function as a senior-level position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, supervising multiple administrative and operations staff groups, providing industrial engineering expertise to plant leadership, and managing, creating, and interfacing with CE engineering projects at facilities and Prison Industries Enhancement Certification Programs (PIECP).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $ 70,627  - $ 137,724

The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

  • Experience with creating manufacturing processes using LEAN principles.

  • Experience supervising staff completing engineering projects in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of the Prison Industry Enhancement Certification Program (PIECP)

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an appropriately accredited institution and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience;

Necessary Special Qualification

May require registration as a professional engineer by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
