Job Summary:
Responsible for the creation of electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design under close supervision. Assists in developing electrical designs and system layouts for building power, lighting, and low-voltage systems using working knowledge of applicable codes and standards. Collaborates with engineers, modelers, and detailers to produce accurate 2D and 3D electrical models using CAD tools and deliver coordinated, high-quality design solutions within budget and schedule. Supports construction administration activities by reviewing submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and participating in site visits as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
Assists in the production of electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations during the design lifecycle from conceptual design through construction documents under close supervision.
Supports development of electrical system layouts, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems, using working knowledge of common electrical codes with limited assistance.
Prepares electrical calculations such as load calculations, panel schedules, and circuiting with guidance from senior team members.
Supports construction administration activities, including review of shop drawings, responses to RFIs, and participation in site visits.
Utilizes working knowledge of CAD and modeling software to create coordinated 2D drawings and 3D electrical models.
Collaborates with engineers, modelers, and other disciplines to meet project deadlines and ensure coordinated design solutions.
Incorporates quality control feedback to improve accuracy and consistency of electrical deliverables.
Education Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
Work Experience:
2+ years of experience in electrical design or building systems engineering required.
Certifications and Licenses:
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
NCEES record maintenance for future licensure preferred.
