Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director, Product Development to join our team! As the Director, Product Development you will be responsible for product development, lifecycle management, pricing and promotion, product value proposition, and market product intelligence for Small Business, Mid-Market, Public Sector, & Wholesale. In this role, you will be responsible for the achievement of revenue targets & fundamentally owns the product experience from end-to-end, insuring enthusiastic internal & external endorsement. You will work across all functional areas, and with 3rd parties/vendors to bring product visions to life. Leveraging your experience, the voice of our customers, and internal stakeholders, you will own product delivery, process improvement, pricing and offer structure, and distribution strategy.

As a Director, Product Development, your duties and responsibilities will include:

Strategic Planning, Product Development, and Implementation

  • Consistently launch/manage/improve products, processes, and solutions on budget and in a manner aligning with customer preference
  • Drive successful execution of multi-region projects aligning with strategic long-range plans
  • Develop & deliver executive presentations on all key projects, processes, and performance
  • Leverage and standardize an agile methodology to drive product adoption, using business KPIs to deliver iterative product/process improvements
  • Lead company-wide end to end Operational Readiness Testing
  • Responsible for establishing aggressive timelines, consistently delivering on-time
  • Lead the availability of a standardized, defined and constructed data warehouse with IT, for business consumption – single source of truth
  • Demonstrate exceptional presentation, communication, and analytical skills at the most senior levels of the business
  • Formulate strategic plans to meet marketing, sales, field operations, billing and other business needs
  • Properly document, communicate and escalate capacity bottlenecks or challenges across all business segments
  • Interact with stakeholders to identify & resolve needs, opportunities, and gaps
  • Oversee key projects, processes, and performance reports, data, and analysis
  • Plan and formulate research and development proposals such as objective, potential solutions, costs of project, and resource requirements
  • Design and execute acquisition and retention offers/tactics that produce desired margin-rich revenue and customer retention outcomes
  • Direct cross functional Go-To-Market teams and resources to deliver product plans on time and on budget
  • Ability to refine complex concepts and designs into actionable business requirements that span the service delivery chain
  • Deliver marketplace solutions that solve gaps and/or deliver a better solution vs. competitive alternatives

Leadership and Team Management

  • Manage and develop a team that will enhance & support internal and external clients via a suite of projects and programs at Brightspeed
  • Lead a team of accountable product leaders, managers, & program managers who interface with cross functional teams
  • Own, manage, and communicate product status, financials, and KPIs
  • Develop business cases with cost/benefit analysis for continuous funding and prioritization
  • Oversee the creation of documentation for internal & external customers

Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party service providers to procure necessary technologies and services
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements to ensure optimal value and quality
  • Forge value-producing business relationships with product vendors/3rd parties

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor's degree and 11+ years relevant professional work experience at Director or Executive Director level of Product Development and management
  • 9+ years of strong technical experience, preferably in telecommunications, specifically product development, solution implementation or IT
  • Strong Confluence, JIRA and sprint capacity management capabilities
  • Experience with interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Experience with defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
  • Proficiency in using customer requirements and feedback to help design customized solutions
  • Enjoy simplifying and reinventing systems and experiences, have a solid strategic vision, and can identify friction points and implement innovative solutions
  • Ability to use judgment based on the analysis of information
  • Experience maintaining responsibility for the delivery of end results and contribution to planning, finances/budget, and policy development
  • Ability to negotiate internally and externally at high levels
  • Proficient in financial analysis, vendor procurement, etc. to ensure that the solution is financially viable thus meeting or exceeding business case requirements for revenue and income
  • Understanding of network and IT to ensure the solution can be efficiently supported in a manner consistent with industry norms
  • Strong systems development orientation to support inventory, provisioning, billing, etc. to ensure the solution is efficient and effective, thus promising a ROI to the end user client
  • Experienced in management and the responsibility of a team of professionals (includes people, budget, and planning)
  • Passionate about leading people, driving change, and focused on innovating systems and support through collaboration
  • Successful teamwork experience and demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Experience in Marketing and Project Management
