About this role:
The Lead Business Control Management Officer will support Commercial Banking lending transformation initiatives by providing risk and control oversight across strategic business, data, and technology programs. This role will partner closely with Commercial Banking Operations, Corporate and Investment Banking Lending Operations, Front Office teams, Data Risk Management, and Technology partners to assess business and control impacts resulting from large-scale transformation efforts.

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$100,000.00 - $179,000.00

About this role:
The Lead Business Control Management Officer will support Commercial Banking lending transformation initiatives by providing risk and control oversight across strategic business, data, and technology programs. This role will partner closely with Commercial Banking Operations, Corporate and Investment Banking Lending Operations, Front Office teams, Data Risk Management, and Technology partners to assess business and control impacts resulting from large-scale transformation efforts.
In this role, you will:
- Lead risk and control assessments - (RCSA) for Commercial Banking lending transformation initiatives, including loan platform modernization, nCino implementation, AutoBooking deployment, LIQ conversions, operating model redesign, and process transformation efforts.
- Evaluate the impact of AI, data-driven solutions, citizen development initiatives, and automation technologies on business processes, controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Design, enhance, and implement sustainable control frameworks that support future-state operating models while maintaining an effective risk management environment.
- Partner with Data Risk Management, Model Risk Management, and AI Governance teams to ensure appropriate controls are embedded within AI-enabled business processes and technology solutions.
- Identify downstream operational, compliance, regulatory, and control risks associated with process changes, automation efforts, and technology implementations.
- Influence business and technology design decisions by providing risk and control expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive control modernization efforts by transitioning manual controls to automated and technology-enabled control environments.
- Collaborate across Corporate & Investment Banking Lending Operations (CIBLO), Commercial Banking Operations (CBO), and Front Office partners to develop end-to-end process and control solutions.
- Provide strategic consultation to business leaders regarding risk mitigation, control effectiveness, and regulatory considerations related to transformation initiatives.
- Monitor implementation activities to ensure control enhancements are sustainable, scalable, and aligned with enterprise risk management standards.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement across business, operations, technology, and risk organizations to achieve successful transformation outcomes.
- Own governance routines and reporting structures for Wholesale Lending Operations Control, including connectivity to WO LOB Governance Council, CB/CIBLO governance bodies, and other relevant sub-councils.
- Define and implement flow of data routines across teams and line of businesses to proactively identify risks.
- 5+ years of Risk Management or Financial Services Industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Experience in Business Control Management, Operational Risk, Audit, Compliance, Risk Management, or related control functions within large financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of Commercial Banking and Wholesale Lending operations, including loan servicing, underwriting, booking, documentation, and fulfillment processes.
- Direct experience with AI governance, generative AI controls, model governance, or responsible AI programs.
- Experience supporting large-scale business transformation, operating model redesign, or technology modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of Data Risk Management, Model Risk Management, AI Governance, and emerging regulatory expectations related to AI-enabled solutions.
- Experience evaluating risk and control implications of automation, AI, machine learning, workflow technologies, or citizen development solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement sustainable control frameworks within complex operational environments.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements applicable to Commercial Banking and Wholesale Lending operations.
- Ability to navigate complex organizations and manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex risk and control concepts to executive-level stakeholders.
- This position is NOT eligible for Visa sponsorship.
- Ability to work on site per Wells Fargo's standard operating model in the listed location (hybrid schedule - 3 days on-site & 2 remote).
