The Corporate Actuarial team is seeking an energetic individual to help drive the transformation of SCOR’s actuarial modeling processes, capabilities and analytics.

This includes model development and maintenance, process improvement, updating key actuarial assumptions and special projects.

This role is project based and will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of different teams including Experience Analysis, Legal, Inforce Optimization, Finance, Pricing and more. You will be required to work with stakeholders to define business requirements, update model capabilities as needed and interpret and present results. For example, during the annual assumption update process, you will work with Experience Analysis to set and define model assumptions, build and test new capabilities in the model as needed, and perform runs to quantify impacts of changes. These financial impacts are then presented to senior management. 

You will also add value by continuously improving our end-to-end modeling processes and capabilities, with a key focus on the surrounding input and output processes of the model. In doing so, you will help the team achieve its goals around refining the way we transform our Prophet model results into insightful analysis and transform the way we produce model input data. 

Responsibilities
  • Support actuarial modeling projects at SCOR US, such as annual assumption updates, inforce management projects, and legal entity optimization projects, and be a key contributor/leader to other company-wide strategic projects 
  • Partner with valuation and reporting teams, working closely on model and process improvements and enhancements for actuarial reporting. Provide occasional support for quarterly production work, where needed. 
  • Perform financial impact assessment and support the explanation of financial results and business impacts to senior leadership team at SCOR
  • Ensure that appropriate and auditable controls, reconciliations and documentation are maintained with respect to valuation, economic reporting and modeling
  • Collaborate with the governance team in reviewing the business results and complete governance documentation for the actuarial projects and modeling changes 
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the SCOR Group 
Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or related field with demonstrated record of academic excellence

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation (or equivalent)

  • Must have 5+ years’ proven financial modeling leadership and management experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry 

  • Experience with financial modeling, assumption updates, and cash flow analysis 

  • Deep expertise with actuarial modeling software, preferably Prophet

  • Expertise in actuarial database software, including SQL

  • Experience with workflow tools like Alteryx, or scripting language like Python a plus

  • Experience with BI and analytics tools, e.g. Tableau

  • Expertise in IFRS, Solvency II (or similar economic value reporting method), preferably for traditional life type products

  • Experience with life and annuity products 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal, written, and relationship-building. 

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team setting

  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex models and perform valuation and analyses to deliver required results. 

  • Demonstrated ability to understand broader picture and impact of decisions

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement departmental processes and controls and ensure appropriately documented

  • Able to balance the need for continuous improvement with the rigor and controls required of a valuation function responsible for producing key inputs to the financial statements

Pay Range for roles performed in NC: $139,000-$170,000 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance

coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
