The opportunity

We are an acquisitive, private-equity-backed company, and every acquisition has to be accounted for correctly, integrated cleanly and folded into a multi-entity consolidation that leadership and our investors rely on. This role owns that end to end: the accounting for each deal, the integration of each acquired business into our accounting operation, and the consolidation that ties it all together.

It arrives at a moment of real change. We are implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365, moving to a calendar month-end close, and rebuilding the accounting infrastructure to scale with the business. You will own your lane outright and be a senior contributor to everything else: the close, technical accounting, the audit and the ERP. This is a builder's seat with a clear path to Assistant Controller.

What you'll do

M&A accounting   OWNED

  • Lead purchase accounting for each acquisition: opening balance sheets, working-capital true-ups, fair value and intangibles work with our external advisors, and earn-out or contingent consideration accounting.

  • Own the deal accounting file from signing through audit, including the memos that support it.

  • Partner with corporate development on diligence findings that have accounting consequences.

Acquisition integration   OWNED

  • Lead the day-one and first-100-days accounting integration of each acquired company: chart-of-accounts mapping, policy alignment, intercompany setup, cutover onto our close calendar and systems.

  • Build and refine a repeatable integration playbook so each acquisition is faster and cleaner than the last.

  • Work alongside the Finance Systems team to bring acquired entities onto Dynamics 365.

Consolidation   OWNED

  • Own the multi-entity consolidation: intercompany, eliminations, minority interests where applicable, and consolidated financial statements on a predictable calendar.

  • Own the entity structure from an accounting standpoint as it grows with each deal.

  • Build the consolidation process in the system rather than in spreadsheets, and shorten it with every cycle.

Close, technical accounting and audit   CONTRIBUTING

  • Take ownership of key close workstreams and help shorten the close.

  • Draft technical accounting positions and keep policies current as the business changes.

  • Serve as a primary contact for external auditors on acquisitions and consolidation; support lender and investor reporting.

Systems and process improvement   CONTRIBUTING

  • Represent accounting in the Dynamics 365 implementation for consolidation, intercompany and acquisition onboarding: requirements, design, data migration validation, testing.

  • Automate what is manual, challenge what is slow, and bring forward better ways to operate.

First-year priorities

  1. Purchase accounting and integration for the next acquisitions delivered on schedule, with a documented playbook by the second deal.

  1. Consolidation process documented, systemized and measurably faster.

  1. Consolidation, intercompany and acquisition-onboarding design delivered for the D365 go-live.

  1. A shorter close, with your workstreams leading the way.

  1. Clean audit on acquisitions and consolidation.

Qualifications

What you bring

Required

  • Active CPA.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.

  • Big Four audit background, followed by industry experience.

  • Hands-on experience integrating acquired businesses from an accounting standpoint.

  • Multi-entity consolidation and intercompany experience.

  • Strong U.S. GAAP, including purchase accounting; advanced Excel.

Strongly preferred

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience (implementation or daily use).

  • A track record of shortening or materially improving a close.

Preferred

  • Distribution, inventory-intensive or multi-location business experience.

  • Private-equity-backed company experience; exposure to a transaction process or lender reporting a plus.

  • Automation and analytics tools: Power Query, Power BI or similar.

Who thrives here

We hire people who are customer-obsessed, act as one team across every brand, are growth-minded, entrepreneurial and urgent — the values every BSS employee shares. On the Finance team specifically, we look for builders: driven, intellectually curious people who are competitive, work hard and are motivated by challenge, growth and winning. They take ownership, roll up their sleeves, contest the status quo and keep looking for a better way to operate. They are confident team players who communicate clearly, develop the people around them and thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. If you are energized by improving an organization rather than maintaining one — and your ambitions run well past this role — you will fit here.

How success is measured

Acquisitions accounted for correctly and integrated on schedule, each faster than the last; a consolidation that is systemized, accurate and on time every period; a close that gets shorter; and clean audits on your areas.
