What It's Like to Work at Qualtrics
Qualtrics Employee Perspectives
What is your role, and what attracted you to Qualtrics? Describe the moment when you knew you'd found the right fit.
I am an engineering manager on the data intelligence platform under DICE. What attracted me to Qualtrics six years ago were the people I met during the interview process. I could sense the culture of learning and collaboration. I followed that hunch and have been here ever since. The moment I knew I found the right fit was when I sat in my first design review. The lack of ego and focus on the problem during a design review was refreshing and really helped accelerate my growth as an engineer.
What’s your favorite part about working at Qualtrics?
The people and the team culture. I firmly believe that, in such a fast-paced technical environment, it’s who you work with day to day that can make or break your mental health. In our org, I feel supported by leadership and empowered to make my team effective and supported. In addition, to be able to work on the cutting edge of agentic AI makes the train ride every more exciting. We are always learning about new developments and collaborating on how breakthroughs can inspire our product roadmap. One additional aspect of being a manager that I love is coaching and watching my team grow. We have team members in various stages of their careers, and being a champion on the sidelines for them is something I take pride in.
What advice would you give to jobseekers looking to join your growing team?
In an evolving technical landscape that requires more and more know-how, the fundamental bottleneck that limits innovation is communication. You can only write so much software on your own, but it’s who you bring along and empower that multiplies the team’s effectiveness.
In addition, our team is on the forefront of agentic AI development, so I would suggest newcomers to stay curious and be always on the lookout for new AI development and know how to integrate those ideas into existing projects. The last bit of advice I have is to try to always see the bigger picture of what you are working on. It’s easy to get lost in the weeds of a design or implementation, but it’s also important to not lose sight of the end goal. This can manifest as user empathy and understanding how your solution actually meets the pain point of the user.
OK, I actually have one more tip: In your interview, be sure to have fun! Make sure your personality shines through, because we want to get to know the real you. At the end of the day, we will be in the trenches together, for better or worse and who you have next to you is sometimes more important than the problem.
