 THE HIGH LEVEL

This position involves leading the design, deployment, and support of wireless network solutions, with a strong focus on Cisco technologies. You will manage wireless integration projects, perform site surveys, analyze RF environments, and ensure secure, high-performance connectivity across complex network infrastructures. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, project coordination skills, and experience supporting mission-critical wireless systems, particularly in transit or large enterprise environments.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Collaborate directly with the customer manager to oversee tasks, milestones, and deliverables related to wireless service integration.
  • Manage projects involving both in-house staff and contractors, including task delegation, status reporting, and hands-on project support as needed.
  • Prepare detailed written reports outlining cost estimates, timelines, and technical strategies.
  • Develop and deliver presentations recommending actions based on impact analyses of design decisions in relation to current and future network requirements.
  • Analyze customer requirements for additional network services, including wireless access points and integration of wireless hardware with voice and data communications systems.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for wireless technology within the Network department.
  • Ensure all deliverables from in-house staff and contractors are completed accurately and on schedule.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

  • You have a Bachelors degree with 8 years of experience engineering wireless solutions.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of radio frequency (RF) theory, wave propagation, and antenna fundamentals, enabling effective wireless design and troubleshooting.
  • You were responsible for identifying and mitigating RF interference from co-channel and external sources using spectrum analysis tools.
  • You have performed both active and passive wireless site surveys and applied findings to develop optimized and scalable wireless network designs.
  • You have hands-on experience with RF planning and propagation modeling tools to generate accurate coverage predictions and system layouts.
  • You are skilled in using spectrum analyzers and wireless client tools to assess network environments and resolve performance or security issues.
  • You have designed, deployed, and supported Cisco wireless LANs, including configuration of anchor controllers, FlexConnect access points, and wireless authentication protocols.
  • You have extensive experience with Cisco wireless controllers (e.g., 5500 series) and access points (e.g., 1550 and 3600 series), including lightweight and autonomous modes.
  • You are proficient in using Cisco Prime, WCS, and Mobility Services Engine for wireless monitoring, management, and troubleshooting.
  • You have configured secure WLANs using protocols such as PEAP and RADIUS and are familiar with 802.1X/802.11i wireless security standards.
  • You have expertise in detecting rogue access points and wireless threats using specialized monitoring and security tools.
  • You have developed and tested custom WLAN configurations in lab environments to validate new devices and system performance.
  • You have measured wireless performance using tools such as throughput analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and Cisco Prime-based data collection systems.
  • You are experienced in using Cisco debug commands and wireless protocol analyzers to diagnose complex connectivity and performance issues.
  • You possess strong knowledge of wired networking concepts, including switching, routing, VLANs, trunking, aggregated ports, subnets, and protocols.
  • You have recent, verifiable experience designing and implementing Cisco-based wireless systems in transit industry environments, supporting critical infrastructure needs.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • No travel is expected for this position, and it will be 100% remote.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT

  • You thrive on blending hands-on technical work with strategic project leadership, especially in designing and supporting cutting-edge wireless networks.
  • You enjoy solving complex connectivity challenges, working with the latest Cisco technologies, and playing a key role in delivering high-impact infrastructure that supports critical operations.
  • Iron Bow is rapidly growing and with growth comes opportunity for all.  There is palpable energy and momentum across the company that is easy to tap into and be inspired by.
  • Be a part of organizational transformation.  Now’s the time to join.  Iron Bow is redesigning the customer and employee experience.  This new approach elevates all and truly enables success.
