Hi, we're Oscar. We're hiring a VP, Insurance Product Innovation and Development to join our Market Management team.

About the role

The Vice President of Insurance Product Innovation and Development will lead product strategy, product design and product management for Oscar’s current and future insurance product portfolio.   This leader will work with Market, actuarial, sales and network partners to achieve Oscar’s long term membership and financial  goals and ensure that our products are aligned with market demands, company goals, and regulatory requirements.  They will drive innovation by leading cross-functional teams while balancing technical capabilities with business objectives to develop products that satisfy customer demands, foster a competitive edge, and increase revenue. The VP will also lead a team to deliver key insights, analysis, and recommendations to senior leadership, thereby influencing strategic decisions and promoting organizational growth.

You will report to the SVP, Market Management.

Work Location:

Oscar is a blended work culture where everyone, regardless of work type or location, feels connected to their teammates, our culture and our mission.

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office (in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Dr), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Otherwise, this is a remote / work-from-home role.

Pay Transparency:

The base pay for this role is: $232,000 - $304,500 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program, company equity grants and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities
  • Define and lead the product development strategy for new and existing insurance products, aligning with the company’s vision, growth objectives, and customer needs.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing product development team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish an industry-leading understanding of  shifting and unmet consumer needs and programmatically share relevant consumer insights within the organization
  • Identify new opportunities through conducting primary and secondary market research, analyzing internal and external customer data, and staying ahead of industry trends to deliver differentiated, sustainable, and scalable products.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver product innovation and growth in key markets
  • Work closely with Market Leaders, Actuarial, Sales, and tech teams to develop and refine products, ensuring they meet customer demands and comply with all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and optimize the insurance product portfolio, building a pipeline of potential concepts that advance to scale through a disciplined stage-gate process to build incremental confidence product performance aligns with company financial goals and strategic targets.
  • Leverage customer insights, industry trends, UX/product design best practices, and data analytics to inform product decisions and ensure consumer-centric design.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations, and ensure all products meet regulatory and compliance standards, working with the regulatory affairs team to influence policy where needed to solve consumer problems.
  • Monitor product performance metrics and KPIs, adjusting strategy as needed to optimize profitability, customer satisfaction, retention, and market share.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Qualifications
  • 15+ years in health insurance product development
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role
  • Experience across multiple insurance products
Bonus Points
  • 5+ years experience in consumer product development

Pay Transparency:  Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education, and experience. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits including: medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, paid sick time, paid parental leave, 401(k) plan participation, life and disability insurance, and paid wellness time and reimbursements.
