The Role
GM's Infrastructure Engineering organization seeks a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead the strategy, planning, reporting, and execution of Connectivity Infrastructure programs across multiple teams.
In this role, you will partner with the Connectivity Infrastructure engineering organization to develop advanced services for both in-vehicle and off-vehicle connectivity. Your responsibilities include collaborating with stakeholders in program management, product management, and development teams to define requirements and set project timelines. You will also identify dependencies-some planned years ahead-and integrate them into Connectivity Infrastructure's roadmaps. Additionally, you will apply a software engineering perspective to help create resilient and scalable cloud-based web services at an international scale.

We are seeking a TPM who demonstrates strength in three key areas:
- Technical Expertise: Possesses broad software engineering knowledge with deep experience building highly available and scalable cloud-based web services, communication layers and protocols, as well as the API endpoints that vehicles and remote devices interface with
- Program Management: Has hands-on experience directing cross-functional, highly technical programs while tracking and reporting on progress, resourcing requirements, and risks
- Communication: Can clearly convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, building trust and ensuring understanding among stakeholders
What You'll Do
- Lead the planning, tracking, and reporting of engineering execution across a large 200+ engineer organization
- Serve as the primary point of contact for highly visible, cross-functional workstreams by managing and communicating the status of teams, initiatives, and objectives to all stakeholders, including senior management and executives
- Develop and review comprehensive program plans, balancing them against agile needs and risk management strategies
- Gain a thorough understanding of GM technical systems to manage and address dependencies between teams and systems
- Collaborate with product, program, and engineering management to track progress towards goals, ensure schedules are met, and celebrate wins
- Use technical judgment to effectively track dependencies and risks while working with large cross-functional engineering teams
- Apply technical software or hardware development knowledge to work closely with engineers or scientists to transform prototypes into deliverable features

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering organizations
- Several years of TPM experience, with a track record of successfully delivering complex web services, connectivity solutions, or infrastructure services
- A record of successfully leading critical engineering initiatives that involve multiple teams with competing priorities and timelines
- Proven experience influencing cross-functional engineering teams, even without direct authority
- In-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle
- Proven program management experience with outstanding organizational and execution skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams
- Passion for collaborative problem-solving and driving results through teamwork
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Extensive hands-on experience in software engineering or comparable technical roles
- Experience partnering with long lead time hardware to deliver required software at the right time
- Demonstrated ability and interest for working through ambiguous situations

- The salary range for this role is $165,000 to $298,800. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
- Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
