Role Summary/Purpose:
The HQ FP&A team is looking for a finance leader to continue streamlining and improving reporting and analytical processes using new modeling and automation techniques. This role will also work closely with leadership to identify additional enhancements to processes used to translate results between Synchrony Financial and Synchrony Bank. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for managing processes and deliverables for key areas of the Company’s quarter close, and earnings processes. The incumbent will also be responsible for interpreting and communicating insights from results analysis to senior leadership including peer competitive analysis, and key performance indicators on a monthly and quarterly basis. This leader will have one direct report to support deliverables, forecasting and reporting.
The goal is to find someone that has intellectual curiosity, always looking for new ways to do things and is willing to learn how to create and enhance models and reporting for the HQ FP&A team. An ideal candidate will have to be able to navigate a complex data environment and have a willingness to learn or have a basic proficiency in database management languages like SAS and SQL.

Essential Responsibilities:
Own preparation of materials to support quarterly earnings and presentations for the Board of Director meetings
Lead team to continue streamlining and enhancing current reporting and analytical processes
Prepare management reporting, regulatory reporting, and presentations and communicate SYF results at both the legal entity and product level.
Leverage automation techniques, data management expertise to enhance models and reporting that will eliminate the need for manual updates and linking
Work with team to boost understanding for relationships between Synchrony Financial and Synchrony Bank to improve work product
Ownership and management of money cost allocation for Synchrony platforms and portfolios
Key point person for Treasury, Risk, Capital, Regulatory Reporting and Platform teams
Manage key deliverables for external Synchrony Bank reporting to regulators
Partner with internal stakeholders in Treasury, Capital and Risk to ensure comprehensive reporting and forecasting
Quarterly presentation materials and backup analysis
Lead the dividend application process shared with regulators each quarter
Partner with FP&A Senior Leadership to understand business trends, analyze variances in key metrics versus expectations
Increase ad-hoc participation in critical business analytics and key projects to support company profitability and initiatives
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 7 years of experience in FP&A
Minimum 2 years using advanced formulas, macros and model building in Excel
Proficient MS PowerPoint ability with knowledge of templates and linked documents
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a modeling capacity
Detail oriented, ability to create and maintain a well-controlled environment for external and internal reporting and modeling
Desired Characteristics:
Superior ability to work with and analyze data, basic proficiency or a willingness to learn SAS
Strong relationship building and collaboration skills to work in a highly matrixed environment
Detailed experience with financial planning and analysis
Knowledge of SAS, Hyperion, Tableau, Workiva or other similar data management software
Strong communication skills with the ability to prepare clear communication and confidently present meaningful analysis
Effective project management skills with ability to manage multiple stakeholders with potentially conflicting points of interest
Grade/Level: 13
The salary range for this position is 130,000.00 - 210,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
