Where Ambition Meets Innovation

Build a career that matches all your initiative with an impressive dose of innovation. From cutting-edge resources and a collaborative environment to the freedom to make an impact and more, you’ll find the ingredients you need at LPL Financial to shape your success while helping clients pursue their financial goals.

Job Overview:

LPL Financial is seeking a VP to join our Business Design & Solutioning team. This role is the business-accountable voice of the client, designed for someone who thrives in ambiguity, can deconstruct complex and often undefined problems and identify root-cause issues, and design the intended client and advisor experience before translating it into executable business solutions.

You will lead design and solution-oriented efforts tied to institutions, strategic partnerships (internal and external), M&A transactions, and onboarding of new wealth management firms—identifying experiential, operational, and platform gaps as firms adopt LPL’s technology and service model.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of wealth management workflows, including advisory platforms, investment products, financial planning, proposal generation, and regulatory considerations, enabling you to navigate complexity and design solutions that are both practical and scalable.

Responsibilities:

This role requires someone who operates comfortably in the absence of structure—creating clarity, defining paths forward, and driving outcomes where ownership may not yet exist. You will partner across product, technology, operations, service, and legal/compliance teams to align stakeholders, define solutions, and deliver outcomes that enhance both the client experience and LPL’s strategic position.

  • Ambiguous Problem Solving / Business Architecture: Break down complex, ill-defined problems into clear hypotheses, decision points, and actionable solution paths—creating structure where none exists. Define both near-term approaches and long-term scalable solutions in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Proactive Ownership & Bias to Action: Does not wait for direction or defined ownership. Identifies obstacles, gaps, and risks early, takes accountability to drive resolution, and mobilizes the right stakeholders to move work forward. Demonstrates consistent initiative by turning undefined problems into actionable plans without prompting.
  • Client & Advisor Experience Design (Voice of the Client): Diagnose workflow and experience friction across advisor, staff, and end-client journeys. Design future-state experiences that are intuitive, compliant, and operationally viable, while advocating for outcomes that improve adoption and satisfaction.
  • Due Diligence & Integration (M&A / Strategic Partnerships): Lead discovery and diligence efforts to evaluate capabilities, workflows, and operating models. Translate findings into clear problem statements, solution options, and execution pathways required to successfully onboard and integrate new firms.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Drive alignment across business units with competing priorities. Establish clarity on decisions, dependencies, and ownership; hold stakeholders accountable and maintain momentum across complex, multi-team initiatives.
  • Business Requirements & Solution Definition: Develop detailed, high-quality business requirements and workflow definitions that enable product and technology teams to build, integrate, and operationalize solutions across LPL and partner ecosystems.
  • Strategic Assessment & Operating Model Design: Formulate strategic assessments and define operating models for new business lines, affiliation structures, and client solutions—ensuring alignment to both client needs and firm objectives.
  • Executive-Ready Communication: Prepare clear, defensible materials for SVP+, C-Suite, and Board audiences, articulating tradeoffs, risks, and recommended paths forward with precision and credibility.
  • Leadership Engagement & Influence: Engage senior leaders to gain alignment and drive decision-making. Leverage a strong understanding of business objectives, incentives, and constraints to move stakeholders from analysis to action.

What are we looking for?

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale change, integrations, or complex business transformations
  • Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint and Excel)

Core Competencies:

  • Thrives in ambiguity and consistently creates clarity, direction, and momentum without relying on structured guidance
