As a Vertical Major Account Manager, Government & Education at Spectrum, you will serve as a trusted field-based sales consultant, creating tailored strategies and nurturing complex accounts to position Spectrum Business as the provider of choice for voice, video and data solutions. Your expertise will enable you to capture new opportunities, overcome challenges and deliver long-term value for high-profile clients.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Develop and execute account pursuit strategies by conducting consultative needs analyses and collaborating with the Sales Manager
- Monitor assigned accounts to identify revenue growth opportunities or service improvements
- Achieve monthly and annual new revenue and renewal quotas by understanding and addressing the communication needs of strategic clients
- Present tailored proposals and facilitate sales presentations to resolve client business challenges
- Expand Spectrum Business's footprint by cultivating relationships with new and existing contacts through telephone outreach, cold calls, premise visits, networking and industry events
- Qualify new leads, coordinate site surveys and submit return on investment analyses for sales management review
- Maintain accurate sales databases to report client information and sales activities
- Collaborate with Sales Engineering, Sales Support and Marketing teams to enhance the client experience
- Attend sales meetings and training sessions to improve sales skills and stay informed on market trends
- Ensure compliance with Spectrum policies to mitigate risks and support successful account management
Working Conditions
- Office-based role with regular travel required to client locations within a specified footprint
What You Will Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited organization (GED)
Experience
- 3+ years of sales experience exceeding revenue goals
Skills
- Read, write, speak and understand English
- Demonstrated history of consistently exceeding sales quotas
- Strong understanding of computer networking, LAN and WAN technologies, high-capacity and fiber-connected networks
- Proven product and technical knowledge
- Effective client relationship building, networking, negotiation and closing abilities
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently within deadlines
- Quick learner able to apply knowledge and partner with support resources to drive account growth
- Valid driver's license, safe driving record and willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Experience
- 3+ years of experience exceeding revenue goals selling data, voice and video solutions in the telecommunications B2B industry
Skills
- In-depth knowledge of CRM systems such as Salesforce
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
