Job Responsibilities:
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY
This individual performs routine and emergency electrical and mechanical repairs including:
  • preventative maintenance programs.
  • troubleshooting electrical and equipment problems.
  • repairing electrical equipment and systems.
  • Installation of equipment and electrical systems.

Job Security
  • Interface closely with the Production departments and all plant support groups.
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing, and engineering in all phases of manufacturing.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities to improve OEE (overall equipment effectiveness) metrics through downtime reduction, cycle time reduction, scrap reduction, and improved efficiency.
  • Troubleshoots, identifies, implements, and maintains controls systems, including PLC, Vision, Robotics.
  • Installs, repairs, rebuilds and maintains electrical systems to provide power to machine tools, production equipment and lighting.
  • Diagnosis machine malfunctions and difficulties. Disassembles, reworks, adjusts, or replaces electrical components of machines or equipment to achieve desired results.
  • Installs and wires control panels, distribution centers, machine tool controls, switches, timing devices and lighting systems.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, schematics, machine manuals and electrical codes to perform safe and effective repairs and installations.
  • Makes emergency repairs when necessary to avoid production delays.
  • Performs layouts of installations. Prepares bills of material and requisitions from engineering specifications.
  • Leads project teams through major installations or revisions of systems and equipment.
  • Assists other maintenance team members in meeting department requirements. Serves as a resource to production, engineering and other plant personnel.
  • Maintains and improves knowledge and skill requirements in all electrical and required trade areas.
  • Maintains user knowledge of tools, testing equipment, measuring instruments, conveyance and material handling equipment.
  • Operates company vehicles, conveyance and material handling equipment.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork, machine documentation, panel documentation and preventative maintenance records.
  • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Trains and guides work of apprentices.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

  • Assist in monthly workplace inspections.
  • Advise employees of the existence of any potential or actual hazards in the workplace of which you are aware.
  • Commend safe behaviors and positive health & safety performance exhibited by employees.
  • Will use all personal protective equipment (PPE) required for your department.
  • Devote the necessary attention and reaction time to hazardous conditions requiring maintenance or facilities resources.

Communication
  • Communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Attend all monthly employee meetings.
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions, and complete related course materials.
  • Communicate with engineering and support personnel to ensure robust process and solutions.

  • Suggest systems, processes, and activities that increase productivity by improving integration of people, materials, equipment and finance.
  • Choose and/or develop more efficient and safe manufacturing and material delivery processes using new, existing or modified machinery and equipment.

Required Qualifications
  • Must have Mechatronics Degree or 3 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts and work in a team environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and guidance.
  • Requires the use of judgment, organization, initiative, teamwork, creativity, problem solving and commitment to tasks.
  • Must be able to read and interpret electrical and pneumatic schematics and understand electrical concepts, practices and theory.
  • Must have troubleshooting skills in AC/DC electrical control circuits, transformers, relay logic, LVDT's and programmable logic controllers.
  • Requires bending, heavy lifting, reaching, working in cramped and confined spaces working on ladders and in heights.
  • Commitment to continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid powered industrial truck operator permit and a State of South Carolina Driver's License.
  • Troubleshooting skills in PLC (Allan-Bradley, Siemens) and Robots (ABB, UR, Doosan)
