Position Summary
Research, conduct reviews, write, edit and publish Telestream enterprise-level end-user documentation. This includes user and administrator guides, application notes, training materials, API references, and a wide variety of technical documents. Subjects include media acquisition and processing platforms, hardware components, and emerging technologies in the media and entertainment space. Materials will be developed for digital print, embedded and online help, and web-based distribution.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Researches, develops, and writes content for printed manuals, documentation, online help and manual pages and supporting materials for software, hardware, technical procedures, and computer-related services. This includes engineering and development documents.
- Writes, organizes, and compiles online help files to support end users.
- Prepares and maintains documentation and publications relating to users, systems, programming, operations, products, and services.
- Works closely with and internally interviews engineering, developers, product managers and subject matter experts to become familiar with product technology and development methods.
- Prepares written documents following Telestream and industry-standard guidelines for technical publications, including document layout and templating.
- Reviews and revises previously created documentation.
- Creates (or arranges for creation) of graphical images, flow charts, and diagrams for inclusion in documentation.
- Prepares documents and contextual help systems for publication. Generates publications in PDF and HTML based help, including CHM.
- Reviews and tests software and hardware for accuracy and consistency with documentation, identifying problems and suggesting revisions.
- Attend project meetings with team members and stakeholders.
- Communicate project status and deliverables with managers and team members.
- Take ownership and manage project tasks, timelines, and communication.
Qualifications:
- BA in English, communications, or applicable technical curriculum.
- 3+ years technical writing experience preferably at a software company
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Proven experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat, as well as WebWorks and GIT.
- Familiarity with markup and style formats like HTML, XML, and CSS.
