JOB SUMMARY

The IT Technical Support Specialist is responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting Prolec GE Waukesha corporate computer hardware and software systems. In addition, this position fulfills the role of mentor to other team members, to accelerate their development.  Candidates will need to be able to quickly acquire new skills and follow company policies and procedures. 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer servers, workstations, printers, desk phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates, wireless networks, switches, and patching. 
  • O365 Administration 
  • Strong attention to detail when planning future implementations, migrations, and integrations. 
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, permissions, access rights and software licenses/subscriptions. 
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset listing of IT Equipment. 
  • Assist with and document network software, hardware, and system security maintenance. 
  • Ability to learn new technologies to research, recommend, schedule, and perform upgrades that support and assist with business processes. 
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services. 
  • Evaluate and modify system performance. 
  • Support and maintain the following technologies: 
  1. PHP 
  2. C# 
  3. HTML 
  4. XML 
  5. MS SQL Server 
  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Associate or BS in Computer Science, or 3-5 years’ experience in related field 
  • Professional or personal experience with web or application programming a plus 
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate issues 
  • Strong customer service skills 
  • Extensive knowledge of operating systems and applications, as well as hardware and software troubleshooting 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities 
  • Strong willingness to document processes and solutions 
  • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple demands 
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills 
  • Knowledge in the following systems preferred: 
  • Windows 8/10/11
  • Windows Server 2008+ 
  • VMWare 
  • Linux/Apache/MySQL 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Associate or BS in Computer Science, or 3-5 years’ experience in related field
