You will work alongside Finance business leads and various associates to make certain all solutions align with Cengage’s process standards, architectural guidelines, and strategic ERP roadmap.

This role is critical to strengthening our O2C capabilities and ensuring a stable, scalable, and compliant financial foundation for the business.

What You'll Do

Drive O2C Strategy, Standards, and Requirements

  • Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and Order Management leaders to collect requirements, confirm business needs, and ensure alignment with standard O2C processes and enterprise building principles.

  • Translate requirements into clear user-stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications that balance business needs with system integrity.

  • Act as the accountable owner for solution fit, ensuring all changes follow SAP guidelines, internal governance standards, and defined global templates.

Lead the O2C Product Roadmap and Governance

  • Lead and prioritize the product backlog for SAP O2C and finance-related improvements.

  • Build and maintain a multi-quarter roadmap that improves financial accuracy, automation, controls, and operational scale.

  • Ensure that backlog items align with Finance leadership priorities, compliance needs, and the broader ERP transformation strategy.

  • Facilitate build authority reviews and ensure all solutions pass required quality and governance gates.

Ensure Delivery of High‑Quality SAP Finance Improvements

  • Partner with SAP functional analysts, developers, and architecture teams to deliver improvements across billing, invoicing, financial postings, AR, credit, collections, and revenue.

  • Validate functional builds and test results to ensure accuracy, compliance, and alignment with O2C standards.

  • Lead root-cause analysis, defect management, and long-term stabilization of O2C processes.

Lead Agile Execution

  • Own sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release readiness in coordination with IT delivery teams.

  • Ensure visibility, clear prioritization, and timely delivery across internal IT teams and external implementation partners.

  • Champion quality and accountability across all stages of composing, building, and releasing.

Optimize End-to-End O2C Workflows

  • Drive cross-team problem-solving and ensure remediation plans deliver durable process improvements.

  • Support ongoing development efforts connected to Cengage’s comprehensive finance modernization initiative.

Improve Integrations and Data Continuity

  • Partner across platforms to optimize integrations between SAP, data platforms, ecommerce/order systems, and CRM applications.

  • Ensure consistent, accurate data flow across quote-to-cash processes.

Stay Ahead Of SAP and Finance Technology Trends

  • Monitor SAP updates, regulatory changes, and e-invoicing/compliance requirements.

  • Apply findings from large-scale ERP transformation programs to drive better decision-making, risk mitigation, and solution reliability.

Skills You’ll Need

Required Qualifications

  • Proven background as a Technical Product Owner, Business Analyst, or functional lead involved in Order-to-Cash and enterprise finance/ERP systems.

  • Strong expertise in SAP S4 HANA O2C and Finance modules (Billing, AR, Cash Application, Revenue).

  • Demonstrable experience ensuring consistency with finance process standards and SAP guidelines.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose system, process, and data issues.

  • Agile delivery experience with Jira, Monday.com, or similar tools.

  • Superb interpersonal skills — capable of working with Finance leaders and converting needs into scalable technical specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP S/4HANA RAR, e-invoicing, or compliance experience.

  • Experience with CRM-to-ERP integrations, especially Salesforce.

  • Background supporting multi-entity or multi–go-to-market models.

  • Prior involvement in ERP transformation, stabilization, or standardization programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

  • SAP or CRM certifications.
