JOB SCOPE
Responsible for assisting in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide Operations Support Systems (OSS) applications and their associated operating systems and databases. Responsible for Application Administration of OSS applications supporting all Charter Divisions. Will participate in full life-cycle of systems engineering activities of high-quality, scalable solutions with a focus on our Splunk Enterprise implementation.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Administer the Splunk Enterprise implementation for optimal performance and availability for internal operations teams.
  • Process data onboarding and issue tickets in JIRA based on customer requirements or problems.
  • Coordinates with internal departments to review existing integration capabilities, data sources, and proposed solution designs for feasibility, cost and functionality.
  • Conducts design sessions with appropriate participation from architects and engineers.
  • Collaborates to creates configuration designs for design and implementation of various environments.
  • Creates work effort estimates for new features and bug fixes for use in prioritization and release management.
  • Perform implementation of defined software and automation solutions to improve reliability and observability
  • Assists in development of self-service workflows with Principal Engineers leveraging automations and CI/CD.
  • Advanced familiarity with and ability to leverage already established Ansible playbooks
  • Installs, administers, configures and maintains Splunk Entperprise including operating systems and related software.
  • Provides 'on call' support to resolve Splunk Enterprise issues after normal business hours.
  • Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact, (i.e. during established maintenance window).
  • Documents systems configurations and upgrades.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to restore functionality in the event of an impairment or outage.
  • Monitors and assists in managing applications, device availability, network conditions and status, system reliability and performance, service and program maintenance and storage resources.
  • Responsible for the implementation of security best practices and initiatives throughout all layers of the application support model.
  • Define and drive best practices for monitoring, security, and platform reliability.
  • Integrate platforms with a wide variety of data sources and repositories that use various protocols.
  • Manage issues and tasks using Kanban/Scrum and Agile methodologies in the JIRA/Confluence platforms.
  • Provide regular KPI and metrics data on platform health and governance to leadership.
  • Leverage automation and scripting for daily tasks, reporting, monitoring, data collection, data analysis and break/fix actions.
  • Write highly detailed procedures and other technical documentation to be referenced by technical peers and senior leadership in a knowledge base.
  • Work in a team environment and work effectively with people with diverse technical skills and backgrounds.
  • Work with the team to support, improve performance and architect the overall Observability platform.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Advanced ability to conduct design sessions to specify solution designs for feasibility, cost, and functionality
  • Advanced ability to use JIRA and Confluence
  • Advanced ability to create detailed documentation to functionally understand new and existing applications
  • Advanced ability to follow and implement established change and control policies and procedures
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot application problems
    In-depth knowledge of development tools, application frameworks, and testing tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of log management applications such as Splunk, ElasticSearch, Loki, etc
  • In-depth knowledge of choosing the appropriate lifecycle and the planning, monitoring and control of the systems engineering process
  • In-depth knowledge of Ansible
  • Ability to effectively transform an operational need into a description of system parameters and incorporate those parameters in the control of the total system development to achieve an optimum, cost-effective balance of all system elements
  • Advanced knowledge of network and systems engineering systems concepts and system/super-system skills, including HPE Reliant and Dell PowerEdge bare metal servers, and VMWare systems


Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience; May require Industry Standard Certifications

  • Network OSS application work experience - 4+
  • System Administration work experience - 3+
  • Database support and development work experience - 3+
  • Enterprise Application Integration work experience - 3+

The base pay for this position generally is between
$78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
