The Opportunity
The Head of Global Infrastructure is responsible for leading the strategy, engineering, and operations of MetLife's infrastructure platforms across global regions. In this role, you will modernize critical platforms, ensure resilient and secure operations, and deliver scalable infrastructure that supports evolving business and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead global infrastructure strategy across data infrastructure, AI Ops infrastructure, cloud engineering, network services, end user technologies, platform technologies, and hosting environments
- Create scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure platforms supporting enterprise data, analytics, and AI workloads
- Oversee hybrid hosting environments including on-premises, cloud, and colocation to ensure resilience, performance, and business continuity
- Manage a global infrastructure organization of approximately 800 employees and 400 Global Capability Center resources across engineering, operations, and service management
- Develop AI/ML infrastructure capabilities including MLOps platforms, GPU-enabled compute environments, and model lifecycle management
- Coordinate cross-functional partnerships with technology, security, and business leaders to align infrastructure capabilities with enterprise priorities
- Lead cloud engineering practices including containerization, Kubernetes, automation, and infrastructure-as-code
- Oversee stability and modernization of mainframe and legacy platforms while driving cost optimization and performance improvements
- Manage global network services including WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, and secure connectivity to ensure high availability and low latency
- Develop end user technology strategy delivering a seamless, secure, and high-performing digital workplace experience
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, or enterprise technology operations
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) and demonstrated leadership in large-scale infrastructure environments
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure technologies to design and operate secure, scalable environments
- Experience building and supporting enterprise data platforms and AI/ML infrastructure solutions
- Strong financial and vendor management capabilities to optimize infrastructure cost and performance
- Proven leadership experience managing global, complex technology organizations and driving large-scale transformation
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across business and technology
- Strong leadership presence with a track record of building high-performing global teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading large-scale infrastructure organizations within insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries.
- Demonstrated success driving enterprise cloud transformation and hybrid cloud modernization initiatives at global scale.
- Deep expertise in AI/ML infrastructure, MLOps platforms, GPU-enabled environments, and AI-driven operations.
- Proven track record leading globally distributed technology teams and complex infrastructure transformations.
- Advanced degree and/or relevant industry certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP, TOGAF, ITIL) preferred.
