About MBRYONICS
MBRYONICS is at the forefront of free space optical communications. Our product
portfolio covers a wide range of emerging technologies from photonic integrated circuits to advanced optical systems and embedded software solutions. Our optical communications systems are integrated and deployed in satellite communications systems. The work is exciting and challenging and is at the forefront of the technology domains. As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Supply Chain Lead - to join our group.
The Supply Chain Lead is responsible for establishing and optimizing a resilient, cost-effective, and compliant supply chain to support MBRYONICS' transition to volume manufacturing. This role ensures the timely procurement of highly specialized optical, electronic, and mechanical components while mitigating supply risk and driving margin performance.
What you'll do
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:
- Lead sourcing, selection, and negotiation with critical domestic and international vendors for specialized components (e.g., optical glass, ASICs, custom mechanical parts).
- Develop and implement robust sourcing strategies to reduce component cost, improve lead times, and secure long-term agreements.
- Drive supplier qualification and performance management to meet space-grade quality standards.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate supply chain risks and disruptions.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to monitor supply chain efficiency.
Inventory & Materials Planning (S&OP):
- Implement and manage a scalable Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to align production forecasts with material availability.
- Control inventory levels (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) to optimize working capital and minimize obsolescence risk.
- Manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) alongside the Head of Manufacturing.
Logistics & Compliance:
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics, ensuring timely delivery to manufacturing sites and customers globally.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant export/import controls, customs regulations, and trade compliance requirements (essential for space hardware).
- Ensure adherence to legal, environmental, and safety regulations.
- Support corporate sustainability goals by sourcing responsibly and reducing waste and emissions
Process and System Improvement:
- Act as the key business owner for supply chain integration within the new ERP system implementation (including procurement, inventory, and warehouse modules).
- Utilize Lean and Continuous Improvement principles (e.g., Kaizen) to streamline procurement workflows and reduce non-value-add activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Serve as the primary liaison between Manufacturing, Engineering, and Finance to ensure BOM accuracy and cost targets are met during New Product Introduction (NPI).
- Provide financial insights on procurement costs and variances to support the FP&A team.
Who you are
Essential:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Materials Planning, ideally within the aerospace, medical device, or high-tech manufacturing sectors.
- Proven experience in managing complex, global supply chains with long lead times and high quality standards.
- Strong commercial negotiation skills and demonstrated ability to secure cost-down agreements.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or modern cloud ERPs like Rippling/NetSuite).
Desirable:
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., APICS, CIPS).
- Experience with space-specific export controls or international trade compliance.
- Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 13485 quality management standards.
Personal Attributes
- Highly analytical and data-driven problem solver.
- Exceptional negotiator and strategic thinker.
- Proactive and resilient under supply chain pressure
