As part of our expansion, we are currently looking for a suitably motivated - Photonics Systems Engineer - to join our group.

Who you are

  • Support and undertake R&D activities in the area of photonic systems, optical transmission and free space optical communications.
  • Support the design and development of photonic and free space optical systems and sub-systems for high speed communication applications, including coherent and direct detect transceivers.
  • Develop and conduct experiments as needed to support testing related to optical/photonic systems with free space optical transmission channels, measuring OSNR, BER and receiver sensitivity etc.
  • Develop simulation models in support of satellite and terrestrial optical transmission system design, advanced modulation and satellite link budget analysis.
  • Undertake laboratory-based characterization and testing of optical and photonic components, including for the space environment.
  • Communicate and disseminate testing plans and results internally and to external commercial and European project partners.  
  • Support photonic systems assembly, integration and test for optical communications products 
  • Propose innovative solutions to meet photonics product or market requirements 
  • Procurement selection, and qualification of photonic and electrical systems and components and suppliers 
  • Support on project management and coordination with clients and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project requirements and delivery schedules are met 
  • Support on project planning and progress documentation 
  • Contribute to contract tender and research proposals documentation for new projects 
  • Preparing documentation according to Mbryonics' quality assurance processes
