Field Superintendent, Facilities Construction
Position Summary
Micron is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to provide full-time field leadership and oversight for Facilities construction, basebuild, renovation, demolition, equipment installation, tool-install, maintenance, and routine Facilities work at Fab 6. This position will work in close partnership with Micron Facilities Operations, Engineering, project teams, system owners, contractors, and trades to coordinate and monitor work in progress, drive execution to meet safety, environmental, security, quality, cost, schedule, operational reliability, and housekeeping objectives, and resolve technical, material, access, and coordination issues using approved project documents and Micron business processes. The Field Superintendent will reinforce the Facilities 12 Disciplines through daily field engagement and serve as an immediate escalation path when field conditions, operational needs, or execution constraints could lead teams away from the approved plan. The successful candidate will also use approved AI-enabled tools to improve planning, reporting, knowledge retrieval, issue identification, and decision support while maintaining accountability for the accuracy and quality of all work products.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily field leadership across active Facilities construction, maintenance, tool-install, operational, and contractor workfronts in an operating semiconductor manufacturing environment.
  • Partner with Micron Facilities Operations personnel to monitor routine, preventive, corrective, and project-related work occurring in the field.
  • Coordinate contractors and trades in alignment with Facilities Operations, Engineering, system owners, project managers, EHS, QA/QC, SIPP coordinators, and Manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Maintain visibility to ongoing work that could interact with construction, tool-install, maintenance, operations, or critical utility systems.
  • Coordinate labor utilization, trade sequencing, contractor staffing, material and tool staging, access, logistics, and work-area organization.
  • Conduct daily job reviews and maintain accurate field reports covering progress, labor, materials, constraints, quality concerns, schedule risks, corrective actions, and escalation needs.
  • Validate workfront readiness, including scope, approved design, materials, permits, qualified labor, supervision, QA/QC coverage, system-owner support, production impact, and recovery planning.
  • Coordinate work activities with Facilities Operations to avoid conflicting system interventions, overlapping isolations, congestion, and unplanned impacts to manufacturing.
  • Monitor construction, maintenance, and routine field execution against approved drawings, specifications, schedules, procedures, work packages, SIPPs, PTPs, JHAs, quality requirements, operational requirements, and Micron standards.
  • Interpret construction documents, operating procedures, system documentation, and actual field conditions to resolve technical, material, sequencing, and coordination problems.
  • Conduct daily Facilities 12 Disciplines field walks with construction and Facilities Operations stakeholders to validate work readiness, system-impact awareness, procedural compliance, independent verification, controlled operating conditions, and post-work restoration.
  • Confirm that teams understand work scope, equipment boundaries, utility dependencies, nearby critical components, production impact, escalation expectations, and stop-work authority.
  • Validate that routine work in progress is performed in accordance with approved procedures, system requirements, operational priorities, and the Facilities 12 Disciplines.
  • Identify and drive protection of vulnerable piping, valves, gauges, VMBs, HPM equipment, gas detectors, control systems, network connections, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Stop or hold work when field conditions do not match the approved plan, required controls are missing, congestion creates unacceptable risk, or execution exceeds available supervision and support capacity.
  • Serve as an immediate field escalation path for Micron team members, contractors, and trades when procedures, field conditions, operational priorities, or available resources do not support safe and compliant execution.
  • Escalate RFIs, design conflicts, material shortages, access constraints, incomplete approvals, trade conflicts, unexpected system responses, and abnormal operating conditions to the appropriate Micron owner.
  • Confirm that Facilities Operations and applicable system owners are engaged when work affects operating systems, system configurations, alarms, temporary conditions, isolations, restoration requirements, or return-to-service decisions.
  • Ensure SIPPs and supporting work plans are accurate, complete, and aligned with actual field conditions, system interfaces, operational requirements, and planned execution.
  • Verify that project work, maintenance work, and routine field activities are coordinated before systems are removed from service, modified, tested, or returned to Operations.
  • Verify that temporary settings, bypasses, barriers, isolations, protections, and access restrictions are restored or formally transferred before work closes.
  • Monitor contractor safety, quality, productivity, schedule, staffing, workmanship, and compliance, escalating recurring performance concerns when necessary.
  • Support Facilities Operations in identifying emerging field risks, recurring maintenance concerns, vulnerable components, contractor-performance issues, and opportunities for physical or procedural improvement.
  • Provide field input to Project Controls for schedules, forecasts, labor and material verification, budget concerns, cost-reduction opportunities, and recovery planning.
  • Support change management by documenting field conditions and communicating potential schedule, cost, quality, safety, and operational impacts.
  • Lead punch-list development and closure, ensure redlines and field changes are submitted, and support commissioning, turnover, and construction closeout.
  • Verify completion of testing, labeling, as-built documentation, procedures, training, spare-parts readiness, system-owner review, and Operations acceptance.
  • Facilitate lessons-learned reviews and ensure corrective actions are incorporated into future work methods, procedures, standards, training, and similar workfronts.
  • Participate in event and near-miss investigations, validate actual field conditions, support root-cause analysis, and drive timely implementation of preventive actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve construction methods, operational work monitoring, reporting, work packages, procedures, field controls, and contractor performance.
  • Mentor less-experienced team members and contractor personnel in field execution, problem solving, Micron requirements, and the Facilities 12 Disciplines.
  • Remain flexible in work assignments based on site risk, construction activity, operational priorities, schedule requirements, and business needs.

AI-Enabled Ways of Working
  • Use Micron-approved AI tools to improve field-report preparation, workfront planning, issue summaries, lessons learned, action tracking, and stakeholder communication.
  • Apply AI-assisted analysis to help identify recurring field constraints, contractor trends, maintenance concerns, quality issues, schedule risks, and repeat causal mechanisms.
  • Use AI-enabled knowledge retrieval to locate relevant standards, procedures, historical event learnings, checklists, operating requirements, and project information more efficiently.
  • Critically evaluate AI-generated information and validate it against approved source documents, Facilities Operations input, system-owner requirements, and actual field conditions.
  • Do not treat AI output as a substitute for engineering judgment, operational authority, approved procedures, required approvals, independent verification, or physical field validation.
  • Protect Micron confidential information and use AI tools in accordance with company data-governance, security, and responsible-use requirements.
  • Maintain full human accountability for reports, recommendations, work releases, escalations, and field decisions supported by AI.
  • Demonstrate learning agility and identify appropriate opportunities to simplify workflows and improve field execution through approved AI-enabled methods.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical education, construction-management coursework, apprenticeship, trade qualification, or relevant degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of industrial construction experience, preferably in semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, pharmaceutical, data-center, or another continuously operating technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple contractors and trades in congested, occupied, or operational facilities.
  • Experience working collaboratively with Facilities Operations, maintenance teams, engineers, system owners, and project organizations.
  • Working knowledge of construction safety, quality assurance, scheduling, cost awareness, commissioning, turnover, work packaging, operational coordination, change management, and contractor-performance management.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, system documentation, operating procedures, field work plans, and project-controls information.
  • Strong communication, analytical, decision-making, conflict-resolution, troubleshooting, and root-cause problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining close coordination with Facilities Operations and other accountable Micron stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, lead without direct authority, mentor others, and drive complex work through completion.
  • Strong judgment and willingness to stop work when conditions are unsafe, unclear, outside approved scope, or inconsistent with established controls.
  • Experience with critical utilities, electrical or mechanical systems, gas and chemical systems, cleanroom construction, tool installation, SIPP/LOTO processes, maintenance execution, or semiconductor manufacturing preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications and the ability to learn applicable Micron construction, operational, business, and approved AI-enabled tools.
  • Ability to critically evaluate AI-assisted outputs, verify accuracy against authoritative sources, protect confidential information, and retain accountability for resulting decisions and work products.
