About the Role

Abnormal AI is seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our growing Procurement team. As our first hire in this space, you’ll play a pivotal role in building our sourcing function—forge close relationships with stakeholders, facilitating vendor engagements, and driving smarter, proactive purchasing decisions across the business. You’ll be deeply embedded in strategic initiatives across teams such as HR, Marketing, IT, GTM and Facilities, and will help shape the future of sourcing at Abnormal.

This is a highly visible, cross-functional role with the opportunity to influence how we scale our vendor strategy, deploy modern tools like Coupa, Expent.ai and Sigma, and evolve the procurement experience for a fast-growing SaaS business.

What you will do
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to teams such as HR, Marketing, IT, GTM and Facilities, —leading early-stage sourcing conversations, aligning procurement strategy to business goals, and driving stakeholder engagement from intake to contract execution.
  • Lead and manage end-to-end sourcing initiatives including market analysis, vendor evaluation, RFPs, contract negotiation, pricing optimization, and renewal planning—ensuring value, speed, and compliance in every transaction.
  • Use data-driven insights to shape sourcing strategy—leverage BI tools like Sigma to build dashboards, track key metrics (e.g., spend under management, savings, supplier SLAs), and identify opportunities for consolidation, savings, or improved forecasting.
  • Act as a sourcing generalist, flexibly supporting cross-functional needs across multiple spend categories while delivering both tactical execution and strategic influence.
  • Champion procurement systems and tools—act as a functional expert in Coupa (contracts, POs) and Expent.ai (intake management), ensuring adoption, efficiency, and continuous optimization of workflows.
  • Build and refine scalable sourcing processes, bringing best practices from SaaS and high-growth environments to improve intake, supplier onboarding, stakeholder engagement, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Partner with Legal, Security, IT, and Finance to drive risk-aware, compliant, and seamless vendor engagements; proactively flag bottlenecks and suggest cross-functional process improvements.
  • Establish proactive vendor and renewal management rhythms—track renewals 90+ days in advance, engage stakeholders early, and recommend negotiation strategies or transitions based on performance and business alignment.
  • Educate and enable employees across the organization on procurement tools, sourcing best practices, and policies—helping scale a procurement culture that values efficiency, accountability, and strategic value creation.
  • Bring a builder’s mentality and continuous improvement mindset, always looking for ways to modernize, automate, and elevate the sourcing experience for the business.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing or procurement within a high-growth SaaS, technology, or digital-first environment, with a strong track record of influencing vendor strategies across multiple categories.
  • Demonstrated category management experience across HR, Marketing, IT, GTM and Facilities, including managing complex renewals, vendor transitions, and business case development.
  • Proven ability to operate as a trusted strategic advisor to business stakeholders, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills across cross-functional teams (Legal, IT, Security, Finance).
  • Experience with data-driven sourcing and cost optimization strategies; comfortable using BI tools (e.g., Sigma, Looker, Tableau) to extract insights, drive visibility, and influence decision-making.
  • Skilled at leading contract negotiations, supplier due diligence, and ensuring alignment with legal and compliance standards.
  • Strong process orientation with a builder’s mindset—able to establish scalable workflows in areas like intake, sourcing pipeline visibility, and procurement operations.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement; enthusiastic about deploying AI-enabled tools and automation (e.g., Expent.ai, Coupa, Glean, Sigma) to elevate the procurement experience.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related analytical discipline.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Supply Chain, or related field) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise procurement tools and ERP platforms, particularly Coupa (contracts, POs, and invoicing) and NetSuite.
  • Experience in working with procurement intake and contract lifecycle management tools such as Expent.ai, Spotdraft, Ironclad.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics across distributed teams, influencing decisions at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Familiarity with vendor risk assessment tools (e.g., Drata, Descartes), contract compliance monitoring, and security requirements in SaaS vendor onboarding.
  • Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling and cost analysis; comfort working with procurement KPIs like spend under management, savings realized, and cycle time.
  • Strong change management orientation—capable of training and enabling employees on new tools, policies, and procurement best practices.
  • Demonstrated success building sourcing playbooks, intake-to-pay frameworks, or vendor management programs from the ground up.
