The State and Local Tax Manager will primarily focus on managing our various tax preparation engagements with third party tax preparers and handling the preparation of state and local income/franchise tax returns. The role will report directly to the State and Local Tax Director and work alongside with the Federal Tax team as part of the Tax Department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the annual tax preparation of partnership and corporate entities that range from single asset joint-ventures to multi-asset funds and blockers
  • Analyze state income/franchise tax filing requirements on an annual basis to ensure accurate and timely filing
  • Review state tax returns and investor Fund K-1s prepared by tax service providers
  • Resolve tax notices from state and local jurisdictions and prepare necessary written correspondence
  • Assist with the gathering of information necessary for state audits
  • Oversee the preparation of quarterly/periodic estimated state tax and withholding calculations for the partnerships and corporations across fund structures
  • Assist with other state tax calculations as requested by the accounting department or upper management 
  • Oversee the preparation of non-resident withholding waivers
  • Assist in the administration of composite return elections
  • Liaise with Investor Services and Bridge’s tax service providers to gather investor information needed for composite returns, K-1s, and other tax documents
  • Conduct tax research on state and local tax issues
  • Mentor a team of staff tax professionals

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required; Master’s in Taxation or equivalent preferred 
  • CPA license preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with state and local income/franchise tax; Big 4 experience is a plus
  • Significant experience preparing partnership returns and K-1s for an alternative investment manager
  • Real estate industry experience is a plus
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required
  • Experience with SAGE Fixed Asset Software or other similar product is a plus
  • High level of integrity, detail, self-motivation and organization is a must
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • 401K:Bridge Investment Group will match your contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to 6% of your pay. These contributions are fully vested immediately. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled at a 4% contribution rate. *The employee must be at least 21 years of age and have worked for the Company for at least 60 days.
  • Paid Time Off: Employee will accrue 5.23 hours of paid time off per pay period for a total of 17 days per year.
  • 11 Paid Holidays per year.
  • Following six (6) months of employment at the Company, you will be eligible per birth, adoption or placement of a child for four (4) weeks of paid parental leave as the primary caregiver to the child or two weeks of paid parental leave as the secondary caregiver to the child. Following two years of employment at the Company, you will be eligible for twelve weeks of paid parental leave per birth, adoption, or placement of a child if you are the primary caregiver of the child.
  • Tuition Reimbursement: Up to $5,000 per year of pre-approved tuition expenses will be reimbursed upon submission of approved documentation. Repayment obligations may apply if employment terminates prior to 24 months.
