About the Role

Sunrun is seeking a Staff Technical Product Manager to build and scale products within our growing AI organization. In this role, you will partner closely with engineering, product, and business stakeholders to turn complex operational and customer needs into high-impact AI capabilities.

Spanning the full product lifecycle—from early discovery and prototyping to launch, adoption, and scaling—you will work alongside an existing Product Manager and a team of 30+ engineers to shape solutions across both B2B and B2C use cases.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Ownership: Guide product initiatives through discovery, requirements definition, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.

  • Product Strategy: Translate ambiguous business challenges into clear product roadmaps, requirements, and prioritized backlogs aligned with Sunrun's overarching goals.

  • Technical Partnership: Collaborate closely with engineering teams on system design discussions, architectural trade-offs, and complex implementation choices.

  • Metrics & Measurement: Define upfront KPIs and leverage post-launch data to evaluate product impact and guide future investments.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate vision, priorities, and investment rationale clearly to both technical and executive stakeholders.

  • Constructive Leadership: Provide thoughtful pushback when requests misalign with business goals, build consensus, and drive disciplined execution.

Qualifications

  • 7+ Years Experience: Demonstrated track record in product management and technical roles owning complex, scalable products.

  • Technical Foundation: Deep fluency in software systems, enabling meaningful engagement with engineers on architecture and trade-offs.

  • Scale & Execution: Experience bringing products from 0-to-1 and scaling established platforms to drive sustained user adoption.

  • Navigating Ambiguity: Proven ability to turn broad, unstructured problems into clear product direction and measurable outcomes.

  • Data-Driven Mindset: History of defining success metrics and delivering concrete business or customer value.

  • Communication & Influence: Strong strategic judgment with the confidence to challenge assumptions constructively and align cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical Background: Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, alongside prior software engineering experience.

  • Domain Experience: Background in enterprise tech, B2B platforms, cloud infrastructure, AdTech, or e-commerce.

  • Multi-Platform Versatility: Exposure to both B2B and B2C products across web and mobile applications.

  • AI Exposure: Experience working on AI products or partnering with AI engineering teams (or a strong technical curiosity and drive to learn).

The Opportunity

This position offers substantial autonomy and leadership within a high-visibility AI team. You will blend strategic product thinking with hands-on technical execution, directly shaping how next-generation technology drives clean energy adoption.
