About the Role

The Staff Software Architect role is an unparalleled chance to lead the technical architecture and strategy of a high-growth startup that's breaking barriers in its third record-setting year. We’re seeking a visionary leader who can establish scalable and robust architecture for enterprise-grade applications. As a Software Architect, you’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineering, product, and leadership, to define the technical direction for our revolutionary logistics platform. You’ll be pivotal in mentoring engineers, influencing strategic decisions, and building the foundation that will reshape the industry for decades to come.

What you’ll do when you get here:
  • Define and communicate the technical vision and architecture of the Shipwell platform.  
  • Design high-quality, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.  
  • Provide guidance on best practices for system architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.  
  • Drive technical innovation and stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across the platform.
  • Lead code reviews, technical discussions, and mentoring to elevate the team’s expertise. 
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks to ensure long-term scalability and performance.  
  • Act as a thought leader and advocate for engineering excellence across the organization.  
What you need to have:
  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related field.  
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or architecture role.  
  • Expertise in system design and architecture for enterprise applications.  
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB).  
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or similar).  
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).  
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.  
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a deep understanding of scalability, performance, and security considerations.

The Salary Range for this role is between $150,000 - $180,000/year. Compensation is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
