We, the Cloud Platform Engineering team at Calix, are responsible for the Platforms, Tools, and CI/CD pipelines at Calix. Our mission is to enable Calix engineers to accelerate the delivery of world-class products while ensuring high availability. 

 
Job Description: 

 

As a Staff Cloud Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on IaC, GitOps pipelines, and automation frameworks. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our cloud environments are scalable, secure, and efficient. Your expertise in Cloud automation tools will be critical in driving our continuous delivery and deployment strategies. 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • Design, implement, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation. 

  • Develop and maintain GitOps pipelines using ArgoCD to ensure seamless and automated deployment processes. 

  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to establish best practices for CI/CD and GitOps workflows. 

  • Build and enhance automation frameworks to streamline cloud operations and improve efficiency. 

  • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure, deployments, and automation. 

  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in cloud computing, IaC, and GitOps. 

  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

 

 

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, with a strong focus on IaC and GitOps. 

  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP. 

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform/Terra Grunt. 

  • Proficiency in using ArgoCD for GitOps-based continuous delivery and Argo Workflow. 

  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash). 

  • Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. 

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with multi-cloud environments and hybrid cloud solutions. 

  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud infrastructure and automation. 

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack). 

  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of relevant work. 

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

156,400.00 - 265,700.00 USD Annual

All Other Locations:

136,000.00 - 231,000.00 USD Annual
