Job Description: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Level Cloud Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our cloud-based network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support our growing cloud ecosystem and drive innovation in our network architecture. 

Key Responsibilities:  

 

  • Design, deploy, and manage scalable, secure, and highly available network solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, Cloud Load Balancing, and Cloud DNS.  

  • Collaborate with DevOps, Security, and Software Engineering teams to integrate network services with GCP-based applications and services.  

  • Optimize GCP network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to minimize downtime and improve reliability.  

  • Develop and maintain network automation scripts and tools using *Terraform, *Deployment Manager, or other infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks.  

  • Implement and enforce GCP network security best practices, including Identity-Aware Proxy (IAP), Cloud Armor, and VPC Service Controls.  

  • Monitor GCP network performance using tools like Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging and proactively identify and resolve potential bottlenecks or vulnerabilities.  

  • Stay up to date with GCP networking features and trends and recommend innovative solutions to enhance our cloud infrastructure.  

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. 

 

 

Qualifications:  

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on cloud-based environments. 

  • Deep expertise in cloud networking technologies, including VPCs, subnets, routing, load balancing, and DNS, Cloud VPN and hybrid connectivity. 

  • Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP). 

  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.) and security principles. 

  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Terraform, Ansible). 

  • Experience with GCP-specific tools like *Cloud CDN, **Network Intelligence Center, and *Cloud NAT. 

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Relevant GCP certifications (e.g., Google Professional Cloud Network Engineer) are highly desirable. 

Compensation will vary based on geographical location (see below) within the United States. Individual pay is determined by the candidate's location of residence and multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, and education.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:

156,400.00 - 265,700.00 USD Annual

All Other Locations:

136,000.00 - 231,000.00 USD Annual
