About the Position

The Staff Accountant will be part of the Canadian Divisional Controller team, with personnel in across Canada.  The successful applicant will support the day-to-day finance functions in accordance with corporate requirements.   

HUB offers competitive compensation packages, advancement opportunities, great culture and the flexibility of working 2 days a week from home and 3 days in our offices, subject to change based on corporate guidance, making this a fantastic opportunity for the successful candidate.   The successful applicant will be head quartered out of the Woodbridge, Oakville, or Windsor ONTARIO area.

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Perform all trade accounts receivable and ensure they are posted and collected in a timely manner.

  • Perform all premium and broker payables and ensure they are paid in a timely manner.

  • Perform all clients’ return payments in a timely manner

  • Perform regular reconciliations to ensure accurate financial statement reporting. 

  • Investigate all aged balances and work collaboratively with other departments to resolve.

  • Daily review and verify information in reports to ensure accuracy.

  • Research, identify, and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics

  • Perform month close and tie out to supporting month end reports

  • Work cross-functionally with other departments for all financial matters.

  • Maintain up to date records of finance in all finance systems. 

  • Act as a liaison between various teams to facilitate any issues requiring resolution.

  • Be an integral team member by providing support where needed.

  • Provide ad-hoc financial and operational analysis to support business decisions

  • Improve upon existing and implement new reporting as requested by management

  • Various other assignments, as required

Position Requirements

  • Accounting courses, or bookkeeping experience considered an asset

  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience

  • Advanced MS Excel skills, with ability to analyze data

  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities

  • Able to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High degree of accuracy with a good eye for detail

The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position’s business line, scope and level. If you believe that your qualifications and experience surpass the minimum requirements for this role, we encourage you to submit your application.
