Job Summary

The Senior Tax Analyst – U.S. Federal Income Tax Compliance serves as a core, experienced individual contributor responsible for executing and coordinating complex U.S. federal income tax compliance, reporting, and data workstreams. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Federal Income Tax Compliance, this role operates with substantial autonomy to own key components of the consolidated Form 1120, calculate quarterly estimated tax obligations, prepare return-to-provision (RTP) analyses, and maintain audit-ready documentation.

In addition to core tax accounting and compliance duties, the Senior Tax Analyst will also have a lead role in modernizing how compliance and reporting data is gathered, validated, analyzed, and reported to improve accuracy, reduce manual effort and strengthen process and controls. The successful candidate will partner with Tax Technology and broader Finance teams to streamline compliance data collection, enhance automation, and maintain robust internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complex Compliance & Return Preparation

  • Independently prepare and self-review complex federal income tax return workpapers and proforma filings for domestic legal entities, supporting the timely and accurate filing of the U.S. consolidated Form 1120.
  • Take ownership of intricate book-to-tax adjustments (Schedule M-1 / M-3), including fixed assets/depreciation, uniform capitalization (UNICAP), intangible amortization, compensation/benefits, and transaction-related items.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager to build, reconcile, and maintain the consolidated return-to-provision (RTP) calculations, identifying and explaining variances between provision estimates and filed returns.
  • Prepare quarterly federal estimated tax payment calculations, extension requests, and cash tax forecasts under the guidance of the Senior Manager.
  • Preparing quarterly and annual U.S. income tax provision under U.S. GAAP (ASC740), including supporting calculations, roll forwards and workpapers.
  • Assist in assembling, analyzing, and documenting responses to Information Document Requests (IDRs) in connection with IRS audits and domestic tax inquiries.

2. Technical Analysis & Delegated Project Leadership

  • Serve as the delegated point-person on assigned compliance projects, assisting the Senior Manager in coordinating timelines, tracking deliverable checklists, and gathering input from business units.
  • Perform first-level data validation and technical review of lower-level compliance inputs, source documentation, or external vendor/contractor workpapers before escalating them to management.
  • Provide informal guidance, onboarding support, and peer review assistance to less-experienced analysts, interns, or cross-functional team contributors.
  • Conduct technical tax research on evolving federal tax regulations, revenue rulings, and legislative updates (e.g., OBBBA, corporate alternative minimum tax, tax credits); summarize findings into concise, actionable memoranda and impact models.
  • Collaborate with Tax Technology and cross functional partners to drive process improvements, enhance automation, and strengthen data integrity and efficiency across compliance workflows

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience: 3–6 years of progressive U.S. federal corporate income tax experience within a Big 4 or large national public accounting firm, or within the corporate tax department of a large multinational enterprise.
  • Direct hands-on experience preparing complex proforma corporate returns (Form 1120), consolidated return workpapers, Schedule M adjustments, and return-to-provision true-ups.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and appropriate documentation discipline
  • Demonstrated experience synthesizing large data sets and using it for compliance reporting analysis and dashboarding.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of enterprise corporate tax compliance engines and general ledger/reporting platforms.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP income tax accounting concepts (ASC740).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Work, Powerpoint, etc.
