POSITION SUMMARY:

Senior Manager, Software Engineering oversees the design and development of software applications.  Manages software engineers and leads development of large software projects. Has full responsibility over some LIMS/LabVantage components of Natera’s software stack. Preference for individuals capable of commuting to the office as needed in Austin or San Carlos to interact with Lab Operation teams and Labs, but ultimately the role is remote. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be a domain expert for projects that are implemented in LabVantage for your given Business Unit(s).
  • Manage a team of software engineers and software quality engineers.
  • Manage large development projects and lead a cross-functional team of developers, QA and product managers.
  • Manage project timelines and resources allocation.
  • Participate in building software architecture, developing and reviewing code.
  • Contribute to engineering development processes improvements.
  • This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and has access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job
  • Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
  • Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience in an equivalent position.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • Experience managing employees.
  • Role accomplishes tasks through direct supervision of employees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience building highly scalable systems.
  • Ability to manage technical teams that develop with tools such as Java, Groovy, Kafka, REST, and LabVantage.
  • Experience in creating LIMS software for processing laboratory developed tests.
  • Experience developing software in a regulated environment.
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
