The Opportunity: Sr. Credit Analytics Manager - Cash Advance

Empower is looking for a talented analyst to join our high growth fintech startup and help develop and optimize our flagship cash advance product. This role presents an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our largest product line while working closely with cross-functional teams. As part of the Credit and Data Science team, you will focus on implementing and monitoring new risk models, collaborating with finance to assess and execute credit policies, and working with product teams to ideate and launch new features and improvements.

The ideal candidate is driven by a passion for leveraging data and analytics to fuel business growth and improve customer financial well-being. This individual will lead workstreams encompassing credit policy, product testing, and valuations, taking ownership from concept through to execution. They will work closely with cross-functional teams in product, technology, and finance to deliver innovative solutions that set Empower apart. The right candidate thrives on tackling complex challenges and is proficient in utilizing a wide range of technical tools to achieve impactful outcomes.

Empower is a remote-first company. We drive connectivity through regular company offsites. Travel for company offsites is expected at a minimum 2 times a year.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Optimize Empower's cash advance product by refining credit policies and valuations frameworks.

  • Design and conduct broad tests to improve future business outcomes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including:

    • Finance: to align work with the broader company strategy.

    • Product and Marketing: to enhance customer engagement with our product.

    • Operations and External Vendors: to ensure seamless execution of loss mitigation strategies.

    • Data Infrastructure: to maintain data quality for accurate analytics and reporting.

  • Drive the development of new product features and enhancements.

  • Develop automated systems to monitor and report on business performance.

Why You’re a Great Fit
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Computer Science, or Mathematics.

  • 3+ years of industry experience in data analytics and credit risk management.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.

  • Proven ability to design tests and build credit policies.

  • Adaptable and eager to learn new tools and analytical methods.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including tech, product, credit, and business.

  • A structured approach to problem-solving, with the ability to communicate complex topics effectively using frameworks.

  • (Preferred) Experience in credit analytics at a bank or fintech company.
