About the role

We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the controls functions of a key automation program. This role is hands-on and focused on the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced control systems. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary technical point of contact for control-related activities, ensuring seamless integration and high-performance execution across all phases of the program.


What You'll Do

  • Lead the design, programming, and integration of PLC-based control systems.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, integrators, and internal teams to ensure seamless hardware/software integration.
  • Perform on-site commissioning, FAT/SAT testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain detailed project documentation including schedules, risk assessments, and change orders.
  • Identify and implement automation upgrades to improve system performance and reduce downtime.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and eventually build and lead a controls team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in controls engineering with a focus on high-speed sorting or conveyor systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Studio 5000, ControlLogix, or Evia Edge.
  • Ability to work with and adapt to existing codebases.
  • Strong project management skills; PMP certification is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership potential.
  • Travel (60-75%)
