As a Sr Application Engineer – Technology Specialist, you are providing technical support to the Field Sales organization through product selection, application engineering, pricing support, and conceptual design activities. You are analyzing customer requirements, developing optimized gearbox configurations, and collaborating across engineering, sales, project management, and commercial teams to deliver technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.

As a Sr Application Engineer – Technology Specialist, you are being responsible for:

  • Reviewing and analyzing customer application requirements, operating conditions, specifications, and installation drawings to determine product selection parameters.

  • Identifying and selecting existing unit designs that meet performance requirements, AGMA standards, LUFKIN standards, and applicable specifications including API, ABS, ISO, DNV, and others.

  • Configuring new gear arrangements or modifying existing designs using LUFKIN gear rating and machine design techniques when standard solutions do not meet customer requirements.

  • Generating cost analysis and pricing recommendations in accordance with LUFKIN policies.

  • Developing complete proposal packages including recommended sales pricing, outline drawings, unit data sheets, specifications, quality plans, and testing plans.

  • Supporting Field Sales teams with proposal preparation, customer communications, and technical presentations.

  • Participating in customer and channel partner negotiations involving technical, commercial, and contractual aspects of proposals.

  • Providing commercial insights during Deal Reviews including pricing strategies and financial analysis.

  • Supporting handover meetings with Project Management teams to communicate pricing assumptions, scope of supply, and commercial commitments.

  • Liaising with vendors to support commercial and proposal development activities.

  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of cost libraries, quoting tools, proposal deliverables, and training materials.

  • Supporting onboarding and training activities for new employees.

  • Performing additional duties as required to support business objectives.

Fuel your passion 
To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university; plus 2–4 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Have extensive Lufkin Gears product line domain expertise.

  • Have experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.

  • Have the ability to travel up to 15% in support of customers or internal meetings.

  • Have effective oral and written communication skills.

  • Have effective computer skills with competence in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Have the ability to manage change in an evolving and fluid environment.

Desired

  • Have an Energy Technology background.

  • Have enclosed gearbox domain expertise.

  • Have experience in Energy, Marine, or Oil & Gas industries.

  • Have Sales, Commercial, or Project Management experience.

  • Have rotating equipment experience.

  • Have experience with Salesforce.com.
