Job Description

The Sr. Analyst supports the Sports Finance Group’s bankers and product specialists in the origination, structuring, and execution of corporate and investment banking activities across the professional sports sector.  You’ll play a key role in building and maintaining client relationships, generating new business opportunities, and contributing to a high-performing team environment with a proven leader in the sports banking industry.       


Responsibilities

  • Assist Sports Finance Group bankers and key partners in coordinating all aspects of the transaction process from the initial pitch process through transaction closing, while developing the capabilities and experience to lead the execution process.
  • Prepare transaction written documents including term sheets and offering memoranda
  • Develop reports and charts for proposals, presentations, and investor meetings
  • Connect directly with prospective investors to help market transactions
  • Conduct preliminary review of legal documents involved in transactions
  • Maintain comparable transaction database and investor universe analyses
  • Analyze / prepare financial reports and models (e.g., cash flow models and capital structure analyses)
  • Execute due diligence on new client opportunities.
  • Analyze sports M&A and stadium development market trends and identify investment opportunities
  • Prepare presentations and marketing pitch books
  • Support the execution of planned transactions
  • Position entails the preparation of client presentations and financing proposals, peer analyses, and financial modeling
  • Many client presentations involve several capital markets alternatives
  • Create and maintain transaction documentation
  • Organize and oversee the transaction process (find potential investors, manage relationships with investors, organize meetings)

Qualifications

  • 2 years of investment banking, corporate banking or corporate development / M&A experience, preferably in the sports industry
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Prior investment banking or corporate banking training program desirable
  • Series SIE / 79 / 63 licenses are required (not required prior to joining the firm)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional sports leagues, teams, ownership structures, venue economics, and sports-related investing
  • Ability to work independently and think creatively
  • Ability to discuss current trends in franchise valuations, institutional capital participation, league expansion, and venue development
  • Passion for the business of sports, with a track record of following industry developments and transaction activity
  • Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance research, financial analysis, workflow automation, and investment diligence
  • Ability to identify emerging trends and assess their potential impact on sports teams, leagues, and investors
  • Can articulate investment themes around subjects such as sports tech / AI, globalization of leagues, private capital, and other trends

  • Position is in Charlotte, NC
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid foundation of economics and finance theory
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Evidence of sports business industry research (academic and/or in current job role)
  • Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints
  • Self-motivated with a keen desire to learn and contribute within a dynamic team environment
  • Well-developed analytical skills
  • Strong ability to understand and analyze complex financing structures
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex problems with minimal guidance
  • Outstanding attention to detail  

Compensation:

  • Base pay for this role usually falls within the $110,000 range and will include an annual discretionary incentive.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $75,820.00 - $89,200.00
